In our numerous failed short yardage situations last night, I think that Thomas would have been a benefit.
Between stupendous leg strength and a very low center of gravity, he really seems to be our best option on very short yardage, pure power runs.
As for opposing teams arranging their defense to account for a one-trick pony short yardage power runner, the antidote is to also keep multiple threat runner Shipley in the backfield. Shipley’s presence would help to keep the defense honest, thereby improving Thomas’ chances of getting that yard.

My thought with his size and strength maybe being the issue . With the two set RB we are using, you would think he may get a shot

Yes, learning pass protection is what kept other RBs out as freshmen. That could be the issue.

Just basing solely off what I saw in the spring game I’d give Adams a shot in short yardage that kid runs with anger and you better be ready for contact… I think he’s gonna be a good one as he gets even stronger

I remember Danny Ford would rotate in about 5 Running Backs in a game or more during a season. Surely we could do 3 or 4 to change the pace and keep the others fresh.
