If we want to win we suck it up and grab Greg Marshall while he’s there for the grabbing. Pat Kelsey would be a fine “up and comer” hire. But, hate him or not, Marshall would win and win big at Clemson.

Wasn’t Marshall forced to resign after reports of
Misconduct came out? I feel like that would be a bigger role of the dice and doesn’t really fit well with Clemson culture.

On November 17, 2020, Marshall resigned as coach of Wichita State after multiple allegations of verbal and physical abuse spanning years.
Wichita State announced an internal investigation on October 9 after several abuse allegations from both staff and players went public in reports on October 8 by The Athletic and Stadium. The allegations, some of which were corroborated by several players, included punching player Shaquille Morris during an October 2015 practice, as well as choking assistant Kyle Lindsted during the 2016–17 season. Other allegations detailed in The Athletic include Marshall telling a Native American player to "get back on his horse" and making "Indian howling noises" during the 2018–19 season.

Wichita State is paying over $8 million in buyout expenses so I’d take some of the allegations with a grade of slaw. He will almost certainly coach again.

Doesn't mean they belong at Clemson though...not matter how time has passed.

Wouldn’t be opposed to Kelsey but I really like Bob Ritchey at Furman if a change is made. Bonus he turned down coots last year.

I think Richey is an excellent choice too! He’s really young and I think some youth and excitement may be what this program really needs.

That would be a trade down. If Neff is going to fire Brownell after the season, we have to hire a national name who might (big if) be able to get some bigger recruits.

If the coots can get national name football coaches, Clemson can get a national name basketball coach.

championships shortly before coming to the Coots, and were among the biggest names in coaching when hired. So the Coots have a solid history of hiring national names, in spite of having a terrible football history, and the point is valid, if they can do it in football, we can do it in basketball if we want to.

I don't know. Seems like Clemson struck out with a few big names last time they had to search for a basketball coach. One was the coach at Miss. St at the time if I recall correctly.

I am a CofC and Clemson fan....
Trust me....Kelsey would NOT be a trade down from Brownell. Sure he is not the national name yet but Kelsey is energetic amd I think can recruit well to Clemson. He has 2 four stars guys signed and coming to Charleston. I want him to stay at Charleston but trust me he is not a step down from Brownell
