I, for one, am just glad WEIRD THURSDAY is over.

Thursday morning on the way to work, traffic just down the road from my driveway on Mt. Gallant Rd. was at a standstill because a Honda Element had run off the road, taken out a fence with enormous concrete pillars and flipped over on its roof. A coworker that drives the same route said the ambulance left with sirens blaring when she passed by. The rollback was the only thing there by the time I got to it and the car was on its roof and crushed. I have not seen a thing about it on Facebook or in the news, but it was bad.

Thursday just before lunch, Joonyer calls with his truck issue and I had to go to Charlotte to get him at the Ford dealership and take him back to work. Turns out, a spark plug shot out of the block, which is a known issue with 2001-2006 F-150 trucks. Joonyer’s Clemson roommate had the same issue in his ’04 about 6 months ago, Joonyer’s is an ’05. Not cheap to fix, but at least he can handle what they quoted. On the way back to my office from Charlotte, a guy in a Silverado decided to change lanes without looking and nearly ran me into the concrete divider. Had to lay on the horn to avoid a crash where I probably would have gotten hurt. Get back to the office to find out that another coworker that I work pretty closely with was on Mt. Gallant Rd. while I was in Charlotte on his lunch and a guy that was under the influence and driving with a suspended license rear-ended the car behind my co-worker, causing a domino effect of four cars that left both his front and rear bumper crushed, and him a little sore.

I leave work to go pick up Joonyer on my SECOND trip into Charlotte traffic, which actually went much faster and smoother than the first trip. As we are heading home, we cops and helicopters hover over…you guessed it, Mt. Gallant Rd, where this was going on:

Get to the house and get a message from a girl that has found and retrieved the kayak of the Winthrop girl we rescued last week, so Joonyer and I go pick it up and bring it back to the house. She’s coming to pick it up this evening.

All things considered, this was probably the weirdest day of my life with regard to vehicles and Mt. Gallant Rd. I deserved every beer I drank last night.
