FSU tampering or not?

1

Jul 28, 2023, 5:29 PM

4* OL decommits from real USC on Friday after a 2mo commitment and announces he will announce his commitment very next day. Sources say its FSU.

Tampering?

Recruiting a kid who is a verbal commitment elsewhere? Tampering? Then 133 schools are guilty.

Usually they don't decommit and recommit in 24hrs or less. He didn't say I am opening up my recruitment. Plus he is a Cali guy moving 3000mi away? Of course its recruiting but sounds likely there were enticements after being commited for 2mos.

Enticements = NIL = legal tender these days.

I believe it's a shame that...

kids make a promise and fail to keep it. Imo. it's also a shame that coaches do that too.

It's just the way of the world, ethics is shot up a pig rump when it comes to honest these days but it's not tampering to entice a HS player to change his mind.

We don't know that he didn't initiate the conversation(s).

That's a big nope.

It's not tampering by any definition. By enticements I guess you mean NIL$$? Possibly, and since it's perfectly legal there's nothing anyone can do about that either.

Sounds like college football recruiting to me.

Was it tampering before NIL and now it's Enticement?

Jul 29, 2023, 5:11 AM [ in reply to Tampering? ]

Just like when we lost the IMG boys (forget names) but they obviously got offers they couldn't refuse. This was before NIL, was that tampering or enticement? Maybe my vocabulary hasn't caught up with the current recruiting terms but if someone gets bought after committing, I consider that as tampering, inducing or enticing?

And FSU offered Sept 2022, it wasn't like he was offered yesterday. If he was from Florida, I think it could be that the guy wanted to be closer to home. But who knows, just an odd case if you look at facts.

If he were already playing for USC, I would say it's tampering. But, I'm not sure that just a verbal commitment qualifies--at least not at this point. Guidelines, rules, and enforcement are desperately needed.

Just recruiting at this time and age. Similar to our recruitment of Adam Kissayi...

Kissayi takes official visit to Minn. 6/16
Kissayi commits to Minn. - 6/18
Kissayi decommits from Minn. - 7/13
Kissayi received Clemson offer - 7/13
Kissayi commits to Clemson - 7/14

This. Recruiting a verbal commit isn’t tampering. We did the exact same thing with Kissayi.

Kids cannot sign until December so they are fair game now. A commitment is nothing but a statement for many.

jus sayin. It's real folks and the noles aren't afraid to use it.

Lincoln would definitely know what tampering is.

Jul 28, 2023, 10:06 PM

Hard to call it tampering if he hasn’t signed LOI though.

I think that kid was a big FSU lean before visiting USC and instantly committing there. Maybe he got caught up in the moment during that visit and has had time to re-think it.

Seems like a DE decommitied from Minnesota & next day or so committed to us. That was just 2 weeks ago. It is part of recruiting
