I attended from 2013-2017, and I believe my favorite player has to be Ben Boulware.
He is what a diehard Clemson fan that is lucky enough to put on the jersey looks like. He is one of us.
My backup would be Sammy Watkins in 2013.

Watch the 1981 Championship season on the ACC Channel. It shows William Perry do a 2-1/2 front flip off of a diving board his freshman year. He was truly special.

He played basketball for Aiken high school. I saw him dunk in warm-ups... I thought the basket was coming down.

I played basketball with him many times in Fike. He could dunk without a running start. Just stand under the basket and jump straight up and dunk with 2 hands, catch the ball and jump straight up and do it again. Several times in a row.

He was awesome. I was a student when he was at Clemson. Playing basketball at Fike back in the day. Saw him take one step and slam it with two hands. I’m 6’2” and he was no taller than me. Amazing athlete.

I delivered him pizza about once a week. Total was $9.90. He handed me a $10 and waited for his dime. Med supreme from Pizza Hut.

In every meaning of the word.
I hate that he's doing so poorly, healthwise. Would love to see the big man be able to get to some games again, but doesn't look like that will happen.
"Ya lookin at the Fridge, I'm the rookie. I may be large, but I'm no dumb cookie."
Won the natty his freshman year at Clemson and the Super Bowl his rookie year in Chicago. Not bad.

I remember watching Bob Hope’s show when he announced the All American team. When William trotted out on stage, Bob looked at William, cracked up and asked “Did the bus come in you?”
William was awesome. He was always polite and I never saw him act out of line. He was fun to watch chase a quarterback down. I swear the field shook.

Steve Fuller was the man. He went to Spartanburg High with me. He literally put Clemson football back on the map. Check out the 1977 SCAR game.

Turned Tommy West's offense into a decades early running threat QB offense.
Biggest memory of him though was running out of bounds on 4th down in last ditch effort to beat the Dawgs, at home, in those crazy throwback unis.
I was there. I imagine not many folks remember that one.

Tallahassee 1993.
FSU was peaking back then, and we were about to fire Ken Hatfield that season.
Game ended 57-0.
Brian Dawkins blocked a Scott Bentley FG attempt late in the game, and he was returning it for what I hoped was at least some kind of points on the day. But no...
Was with a big-boobed bleach blonde gamecock chick who thoroughly enjoyed every minute of that game. We weny to UGA to see Brandon Bennett leap overt the top to win in Athens, then we drove to Flotida and stayed in Panama City before heading to Tallahassee for the next weekend's game vs FSU.
The only saving grace was me enjoying every minute of her later that night. More on that soon..
We were getting killed with Sidney Moncrief at QB, and on one FSU drive, B Dawk picked up a blocked FG attempt and looked to be sprinting to the FSU end zone for at least SOME points.
Lo and behold here comes the kicker, Bentley, sprinting in on an angle, he tackled Dawkins just yards shy of a TD. Then we took possession deep in their territory and STILL didn't score!
So frustrating, but blondie the coot grad was elated!
She was a big-boobed, bleach blonde gamecock chick who thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. The only saving grace was me enjoying every minute of her later that night. Good thing we didn't have any kids.
Go Tigers!

My favorite was MOMMY LOU Cordileone. Not only was he a great football player but every Sunday after the season we would play kick the can on the street corner in front of Dan's. One Sunday a VW was coming down the street but Lou didn't stop and hit the car. Almost turned it over. We all laughed and warned the driver to be more careful.

Saw a lot of B Dawkins and Anthony Simmons, and a year of Trevor Pryce. But the most impressive player in my opinion was Priester. To run for the yards he did with the miniscule passing game we had under Tommy West was amazing to me.

Marvin Sims and Obed Ariri. Would see them downtown after the games having a good time at that joint on the corner with the dancing. I forgot the name of the place. This was in the late 70s.

The Bookstore, back in those days. Then I think it became the corporation (just like the one out in Central behind the Ingles. Then I think it was TD's. We probably ran into each other. I remember Marvin dancing in there as well.

^^^^ I remember going there also. I think it was the corporation but I remember it having another name also when I was there (1982-1987). I don’t know about a fave player when I was at Clemson but William and Michael Dean were both there when I was a student. I think my daughter would say Sammy or Tajh were her faves when she was there.

Not only was he a beast on the field, but I sat next to him in a Sociology class. The man was there the first day and all the days in between, and very engaged in his education.
It doesn't hurt that he was a Steeler as well!

Went out to watch practice one afternoon in '69, my freshman year. Frank Howard was standing at the road watching the players cross from Fike and he tok a minute to speak to us. The last player out was Charlie. Frank hollered at him, " C Waters, get your @$$ out there!"
I would add Bobby Johnson, first person I met at orientation and sat beside him at graduation!

Frank Magwood (#2) from Moncks Corner…
1
Apr 18, 2023, 11:23 PM
|
|
…Danny always said that Frank had the BEST hands on that ‘81 championship team, even over Perry Tuttle.
Frank’s critical acrobatic catch from a tipped pass to him, shifted the momentum in that Orange Bowl game.
Frank was also a really humble guy that always said, hi, with a smile around campus.
I really loved watching him play. I saw him in a West End Zone event probably 10 years ago, and he was still in great physical shape.
I also finally got to know WHERE Moncks Corner was in the state!

Frank did have the best hands on the team but he was from Johns Island. We played a lot of basketball together and I would catch a ride to and from Clemson with him when we were students. Went to his house several times. It was on Brownswood Road on Johns Island.

Levon spoke at an event in Greenville a couple of years ago. After the event I went up and introduced myself as a CU Grad and thanked him for coming to Clemson and being one of the players who started our climb to greatness. He got a tear in his eye.

What other QB did that prior to him?
Back then, 10-2 and a top 12 finish was a GREAT SEASON. No complaints, at all. Except Danny ran the ball too much lol.

I remember a game vs McGuires USC at Clemson where Dickie was on the foul line waiting to rebound a foul shot. The USC player to his left back handed him in the face and bloodies hisnose. Of course the refs weren’t looking but I saw it. Dickie knew better tan to retaliate. After that I knew McGuire was a S O B.

I was a student for 8 years from fall 91 to fall 99 so I've got a wide range of players to choose from... I guess I'll go with Rod Gardner in 1999.
