Busch Light for me. Dont ask me why. Probably cheapest at the time for a case.
I'm not even sure if it still exists.

Best bang for your buck was the Long Island Ice Tea since they were using mini bottles.

That's what we told ourselves, anyways.

All beer draft beer at TTT was bud or bud light....

Feb 4, 2020, 10:36 AM [ in reply to oh and you cold get a pitcher for $4-5 at TTT ]

regardless of what the tap handle said.

During late 80's to mid-90's at least.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They NEVER cleaned the lines in the '90s, either. You could

Feb 4, 2020, 10:38 AM

actually taste the funk in the beer, even when they tapped new kegs. I quit drinking draft beer at TTT. There was anecdotal evidence of people getting sick from that beer, and not drunk-sick-puking. Like coronavirus sick.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgbadge-ringofhonor-19b.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They definitely had funky beer sometimes....

Feb 4, 2020, 11:29 AM

but they did clean the lines regularly...now if they were cleaned correctly or not, is a different story.

I started going there in Spring 1990 and new one of the owners (JC) pretty well from church stuff prior to starting to go. Of course, he knew I wasn't 21 yet, but those were different times back then.

I knew most of the barkeeps and bouncers from then on and worked there one summer running the door (which is likely the best job I ever had), helping bounce people out when needed, and changing the kegs (hence the above comment). I used to fill-in at the door every now and then after that until I left.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Bud Light.

Feb 4, 2020, 10:12 AM

I can't get near the stuff now. Might be because of the gallons of draft pitchers of that ish I drank at TTT.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Busch Light was $9.99/case at Tiger Mart.

Feb 4, 2020, 10:13 AM

That got us through the first coupla years of school.

Natty Light and it wasn't even close

Feb 4, 2020, 10:15 AM

Also had some stints with BEER 30! Easily the worst abomination every created. But hey! It came in 30 packs!

Tried Keystone on my 21st birthday (bought a keg because they were out of Busch). Only party I've ever been to where people left and came back with BYOB. Sorry Lakebum1® that ish is vile.

Busch Light for sure. It was also way better than the non light version.. We would have some great parties and with huge buckets of beer, coolers, etc. At the end of the night, all the light was always gone, but there would be a bunch of regular. Anyway, Busch Light. Yep

Feb 4, 2020, 10:46 AM

Old Milwaukee/PBR longnecks in the returnable refundable bottles were the preference. You could get like $3 back if you returned all the bottles (which was a challenge). Made a $10 case more like $7.

Recall that the Stroh's Light 30-packs were very economical too.

Also delved into the Old English/King Cobra/Colt 45 malt liquor when funds were really short. A six-pack could get you hammered beyond return.

Whatever it took.

Busch Light exclusively by me and my Clemson buddies

Feb 4, 2020, 11:12 AM

All of my gamecock acquaintances exclusively drank Natty Light.

I always chalked it up to being able to find Busch Light for $9.99 in Clemson, and Natty was a buck or 2 more (and far inferior).

Natty was the cheaper choice in Columbia at the time.

Now I drink Natty because of lower carb count.
