Nice 2 wins this week, but so far this season has been a bit of a disaster.
Every time I tune in and watch, I see players missing plays that they just shouldn’t be messing up. Kicking the ball around in the outfield and completely choosing the wrong angle at the ball. Grice getting thrown out because he’s truly mad that he can’t hit anymore for some reason. Pitching looks mediocre at absolute best. Will Taylor supposed to be a 1st round talent, but is also making inexplicable errors.
Thankfully in baseball, there’s a ton of games to figure things out. But, we’ve already got 6 losses and can’t keep fooling around.
How do we change things going into ACC play in a couple weeks? Because at this point, it just feels like a lot of the problem is team morale.

Changing coaches guarantees nothing. Good pitching, fielding and hitting equal wins.

Right now 2 of the top 5 pitchers on the staff have been unavailable for a good chunk of those 13 games (Ammons and Weiss). Smith looks good but he's a freshman. Lindley has been solid but he's not going to set the world on fire. When he throws strikes, Austin Gordon has been effective. I like what I am seeing from Garris and the Dvorsky kid didn't look too bad yesterday. Speaks volumes that the 2 Nicks did not get any time on the mound in the 2 midweek games. I think Coach has lost confidence in both of those guys and that's disappointing since both were at least serviceable the past 2 years. Rocco Reid has got to throw strikes and Jay Dill has got to figure out how to keep the ball down in the strike zone. When he elevates the ball and they make contact the ball is gone.

Seems like this is what T-net wanted. Monte bad/evil/coot, Bakich good/elite/one of our own.
I don't understand hiring someone with a worse resume than current coach. I don't understand having Grice in the 2-hole when he leads the team in strike outs for 2 years running. I don't understand why Leggett is in the dugout if his title is "Program Development."
Don't forget, Clemson was 13-0 through 13 last year with a sweep of SC. It's not like UCF is a powerhouse either, so the argument of schedule is a moot point.

Michigan is not historically on Clemson's level, but they've recently been better than us. Anyone who can recruit and turn Michigan into a CWS team, that's doing something. Put Monte at Michigan and let's see if he does better than Bakich did.
Bakich will be fine. He's having to rebuild and grow before we can expect to be a powerhouse again. Way too early to try and make any type of judgment or comparison to the previous staff.
Overall I'm sure you made that post in the vein of replacing Brad doesn't guarantee success. We'll yeah, but would you rather continue down the 12 year two top-40 finishes and an average NET of 76th??
I'm positive we can do better than that.

Monte Lee 7 years prior to Clemson - 276-145 (.656) 4 regionals. 1 Super Regional.
Eric Bakich 13 years prior to Clemson - 398-314 (.559) 5 Regionals. 1 CWS runner up.
Really confused where Brad Brownell fits into Monte and Bakich resumes.

Grice in the 2 hole has actually been smart to help Grice out. His average is higher than it was last year. He hasn’t hit any home runs this year. This indicates he was living and dying by the long ball last year. Putting him in the 2 hole is telling him to forget about the longball. Just focus on hits. It has helped his average. Don’t know if it justifies the 2 spot, but if it helps fix Grice so be it.

The team has time to turn it around and I hope that they do. My frustration has stemmed from inconsistent pitching. One can see how much of a difference pitching has made with our softball team. I also understand it is more of a challenge in baseball as the same pitcher can’t pitch as regularly. Baseball will get better if the new coaching staff develops a quality bullpen. Only time will tell if this happens.

You can't make reasonable comments about Monte vs EB or you called a coot. Crazy how a schooo as proud as we are on baseball spins a ETSU and Pres game as we are back.
Did anyone see the USCU score last night? If we lose one game this weekend then EB should be questioned for sure. He has the same players as Monte, with Monte new recruits and Montes recruits on the bump. Just saying

Monte didn’t develop point blank. He won with jacks guys and then what…if can’t get behind this coach then don’t ever show up to games or watch. Rome wasn’t built in a day. We get it some still worship monte …go coot elsewhere. Bakich says in presser we’re back? Missed it. Please tell us. A wins a win. Are we perfect no. Players and coaches aren’t gonna say that either .
