Earmuffs at games for children???

Oct 27, 2015, 11:57 PM

Honestly, it's not all that necessary to hear what's going on around you in the stadium. In fact, it would probably be more appropriate for our senior citizens if everyone were required to wear ear protection in the stadium.

It's hard to overstate the impact that 7 games can have on the ears, and the discussion about the proliferation of profane language within Death Valley has me thinking that, from a risk assessment standpoint, there's really not a reason NOT to have folks wearing protective earmuffs inside the stadium.

It really sounds ridiculous given that no one has really ever implemented such a policy at any level of organized football before. I think it provides obvious advantages that have come to the forefront following a recent diversion in how Americans in different age groups perceive deceny and their senses of American duty. Anway, despite how farfetched it sounds, there are real benefits here and we would only face 2 challenges in implementing such a policy.

1) Spreading information about the benefits of ear protection within the stadium. In addition to allowing folks to speak freely - even dropping F bombs without affecting the ears of little ones - the earmuffs would provide a substantial lifestyle improvement in the form of hearing preservation and reduce hostility between fans with differing views on cuss words.

2) Determining how the earmuffs should be funded and whether any weather considerations should come into play in the purchasing decision. For example, should the summer ones be made of orange synthetic material and the winter ones be made of wool? I think these could be funded at under $20/unit for every season ticket holder, which would also provide a local winter headwear contractor with plenty of work for the Christmas season.

I know this probably kinda sounds pretty stupid if you're not familiar with what some of the hearing protection thought leaders are saying about stadiums and earmuffs, but it's something you'd probably hear about soon anyway. If any Tigers are interested in any more information about keeping your ears out of harms way in the stadium, give me a Tmail.

And to go with the earmuffs, each attending fan should be

required to possess a Sony Walkman with dual wraparound ear buds so they can blast the play by play of the game, brought to you by Munson, Rodney, & Sapp or Palmer. Readily available frequencies for the official play by play include, but not limited to 105.5 fm & 93.3 fm on the broadcast dial.

But really, I do think the ever-abundant foam style ear plug

Oct 28, 2015, 3:17 AM

would win out in this leftist ploy of economic stimulation. Readily available at countless retailers, you can get 'em in orange for about 50 cent to a dollar per pair, they're disposable & can be thrown at anyone without fear of harm (kinda reminds me of my Clemson ###*it doll). If supplies do run short, marshmallows would be a suitable temporary replacement.

would have to be because if we charge ticket holders $20

each, imagine what it will do to ticket prices here on TigerNet!!

Maybe you should start a class action law suit against football. Start with the Pee Wee leagues first and shut them down, then eventually High Schools, NCAA, and NFL. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT! Sorry for yelling.

No, I'm all for people yelling at football games, which is why I think it's critical that we start addressing this now rather than doing like the NFL did with the whole concussion issue.

Sweeping safety issues under the rug, IMHO, isn't the way to promote transparency in the program nor does it send the right message to fans who are at risk for hearing damage.
