Duke game...

9

Jul 11, 2023, 2:42 PM

Good afternoon, all. Who is going to go to the Duke game on Labor Day? My wife and I will make the trip, she is going to drive us up to the game provided my doctor approves me to go.

Anyway, anyone ever been to Wallace Wade? How is the tailgating and parking? Will we be able to find parking on game day near the stadium to tailgate or do we need to reserve in advance?

Thanks in advance.

Men at 25 play football. Men at 40 play tennis. Men at 60 play golf. Have you noticed as men get older their balls get smaller.

I have been to Duke games several times and have always been able to find close parking. I doubt that things have changed a lot.

This is a good road trip. Easy to get to and their fans are always polite. Nothing to dislike about Duke.

If you go be sure and go in the basketball arena. A good example that facilities aren’t that important!

That would be an amazing part of the trip if the wife and I could step inside Cameron Indoor. Such a historic arena and would love to have that opportunity. I may only have half of one eye left but it would still be a beautiful thing to see.

Sorry I always liked stepping into our old original Fike Fieldhouse over Cameron. Will never forget our beating Duke and their all-american Steve Vacendak in a wall-to-wall packed 4,500 seat Fike back in the late sixties! Had you been there that night you would still pick Fike over Cameron!

a Handicapped Parking Tag based on severity of your conditions. Might be worth an ask.

Possibly, but since I cannot drive due to seizures, I have never asked. Worth a shot though to ask I guess.

Yes sir, maybe it is just my selfish pride but I just feel odd having one since I can walk and have enough eye site to walk on most days. I feel like there are elderly and more severely injured folks who need it more than me.

I went in 1983 and parking wasn't a problem.

Don't remember much about the tailgating scene. Alcohol may have been involved.

I’ve found the parking pretty much blocked off for Duke boosters. One time I got into the parking lot across from the stadium, but it was a fluke thing.

Usually, we have to walk a pretty good distance from where we park.

Here ya go...

Even though it says Basketball, the route to general parking off of Erwin Rd to Circuit Dr is the same.
The disability lots are two of the blue lots just east of the stadium.

I've been to Duke numerous times over the years and parking has never been a problem.

As you would guess, the lots closest to the stadium are reserved for the Iron Duke members.

Public parking is available at these locations: Circuit Drive lots, Chemistry lot (also on Circuit Drive), Jogging Trail lot, Cameron Boulevard/Hwy 751, and Research Drive near Erwin Road. In addition, there is a shuttle service to and from the Duke Chapel area (H-Lot: Corner of Yearby Avenue and Anderson Street and GC-Lot on Flowers Drive). The shuttles run every 15-20 minutes, beginning shortly after the lots open for parking, and until one hour after games end.

Here's a link to their map:
