Do you trust Dabo to put the best WR's on the field

Oct 2, 2023, 11:44 AM

I just read Ryan Kantors latest article today, the thing that stood out to me was dabo saying he is counting on Antonio Williams, Beaux Collins, Adam Randall, Brannon Spector and Cole Turner at WR.

I understand him saying what he said about Collins and Williams and i understand his frustration with Stellato out. but what in the world would have made him think Randall Spector and Turner have accomplished anything to be counted on.

I could be wrong but he seems to redshirt guys (freshman wr's) sometimes for he heck of it when the guys above them are doing nothing. After seeing what Tyler Brown and Stellato have done essentially coming out of the bullpen, i really don't know, Hannafin and Noble Johnson may ball out if given a chance. I will also say that although The TE Jake Bstool looks the part and they said he was gonna be a valuable weapon, the backups looked pretty good in there short time on the field in the two smaller games.

If you are talking about the Board posters, that's an oxymoron.

Tyler Brown, Troy Stellato and, when healthy, Antonio Williams are our best WRs. It will be interesting to see who takes the field first against Wake Forest.

I think that was a lot of coach speak to try to motivate them. What is really concerning to me is Briningstool. He really looked the part when Davis Allen wasn't on the field last season. If there's an injury we won't know that until after the season. It it is usage, we'll know by whether or not he sticks around.

The issue I have with the depth chart, especially at WR, is how much they rely on the specific roles. Even after saying there would be less role specific WRs with Riley. I understand not putting Brown or Williams out wide often. But you'd think there might be some motion that kicks them out there or route combinations that get them on the outside for the deep shots. I didn't play WR but I'd hate to be less than 6 feet and 200 lbs knowing those safeties are closing in on a regular basis. Those deep posts and digs that don't clear the safeties come with some courage badges.

Stool needs to put on some good weight. They've said this from the beginning.
Maybe he's a guy that struggles with that ( like Hyatt ) but he's not the ideal
size to continue to take big hits over the middle as required by an effective TE.

We will know for certain when that young fella Betanceur (sic) gets here.
From all accounts he's going to be a stud.

Stellato emerging is what is of particular significance. He looks as if he
can fill that Renfrow role that we've been longing for now since Hunter's
departure.

One of the more impressive qualities Hunter possessed was fearlessness. You could run over that guy with a tank and he would pop right up. You can't coach that. It's like speed , either ya got it or you don't

I see a lot of similarities between the two and am hopeful he can remain injury free
the rest of the way. He's the prototypical possession receiver we've been lacking

Trying to give the older guys their due and take the lead which has been nurfed for some reason.....in my opinion.....maybe it is lack of tough coaching. Collins in particular flashed some grit Saturday....but it should have been there a year ago...and weeks ago. He is like 30 years old compared to the young group that is there. Brown has that "" want to "" and also the things that you just can't teach. Just have to push this group harder.

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

I think you misread things

I believe Dabo said at the start of the year he was counting on those guys. Turner is out with injury for the year, Williams should be back for Miami (hopefully). Spector just hasn't worked out and Randall is not playing to his potential (as Dabo has pointed out).

Stellato was red shirted due to injury his first year and had knee surgery last year. Turner was red shirted for experience (less than 2 full years of HS football). Due to the injuries they plan on lifting Hannafin's red shirt and maybe Johnson's. Not seeing practice everyday and how Hannafin and Johnson are progressing there is no reason to play them unless they are out practicing someone that is playing. Maybe in a blowout game when they may have the "light go off" and start producing in practice and earn more playing time.

I think I will trust the coaching staff to play the best players since is literally a matter of putting food on the table for their families.

Ultimately , yes. It would seem it is a fluid situation with the tigers.

I believe misevaluations and untimely injuries played a role here.

Grisham know a LOT more than any T-Netter about what each WRs role should be, and how much PT they should be getting. It's hilarious that some on here think otherwise.

Never have believed the Spector hype. If it wasn't for Brown this team would be in trouble.
