DJ was the second worst QB in the country last year. The offensive line wasn't great, but it was better than 2020 when Trevor was still a great QB. I don't care about his freshman year when teams had prepared for Trevor and had no video on DJ. We have a whole season of horrific play. We're a playoff contending team in every way except a massive question at Quarterback. I would take:
Leary, Hartman, Slovis, Armstrong, Van Dyke, and Cunningham without question over DJ. DJ COULD end up better than some of them, but all of them have been great QBs with much worse teams than Clemson. Clemson would 100% win the ACC and go to the playoffs with any of them. I would probably take Jurkovec as well and maybe Travis.
Travis, Wells, and Shrader are tossups. They were all better than DJ last year, but DJ wouldn't have to improve a lot to be better than them.
I'd take DJ over Sims and Leonard, because I know they both can't compete on the highest stages. But I also would never have DJ starting and would play Klubnik from the start so he could build experience. I see 0 reason to play DJ as starter when even if his stats were 2-3 times as good as they were last year, he still wouldn't be up to snuff.

Maybe but, those stats really suck, and when our most loyal fan base that has seen more FB, and more QBs perform around all of college FB over a life time were calling for DJ head. They were repeatedly TD-ed, called names, and told they weren't real Clemson fans whenever they would voice their opinion of how really bad DJ sucked as our starting QB.
When a loyal fan base that never misses a game, and a huge majority of those make it to at least half of the games played in DV, you can't fool those fans with determining a productive, or a non productive QB. Then they look back 10 seasons since Dabo become HC, they have seen about every game that Tajh Boyd, DW4, and Trevor played while being the starting QB for Clemson, it was so easy for those Clemson fans to recognize that the DJ that took the field in 2020 wasn't anything close to the same QB that took the field as the starter in 2021.
Only about 1% of those fans could have ever been college FB coach, but those fans don't have to coach FB to know what they're seeing from players at every position, and they do know when player just isn't up to the standard they have been use to seeing season after season on the field at DV. With that being said, when a loyal fan base are saying that one of our players regardless of position don't add up to what we've had in the past, just hear what they're saying without wanting to butcher them, bc loyal fans know a good FB player when they see one, and last years DJ wasn't the standard that a loyal Clemson fan base are use to seeing. We have had good QBs leave Clemson bc they wasn't as good as our best, and they done what was best for them and went somewhere else that the competition wasn't as good as out best so they could get playing time. I personally hope, and pray for DJ to take the field in September, and be an improved DJ from last season, and I hope that he can improve from the DJ we saw play against BC, and ND bc, that is what DJ will have to do before he will be good enough to win the big one.
I also think that Cade Klubnik is going to be a really good QB for our Tiger FB team, but for some reason, I don't think he would be like a DW4, or a Trevor being thrown in the fire as early as those two were. I don't think that DW4 was as ready as TL16 was, and that's bc DW4 got banged up bc of not enough time to get his body ready.... Go Tigers, and lets win one game at a time week after week!!!!

9th sounds about right. Pulling for DJ to make a comeback this year. Feel like if we can stay healthy, gel on the o-line and make some plays at wr we’ll be fine. RB I think is fine with the way we ran the ball at the end of last year. Defense will do its thing like they always do. Go Tigers!

DJ is going to be great at leadership and managing this team as his own. I look for the light to come on and to be very bright.
DJ could be the best QB in the ACC this season with help and major growth. I’ve heard he has worked hard at being accurate and making quick decisions in the hurry up offense. This will keep him from overthinking it!
My guess for DJ is 62 % completion ratio, 3000 yards with 34 TD’s & 8 interceptions.

Lots of QB's work hard but that doesn't mean success. Some folks just can't, won't and never will.
Honestly, we have seen glimmers of potential in DJ but I give his chances at an awesome year at 1 out of 5. So 20%. That's means I'm giving him 80% he will not be much better than last year. If he works as hard at football practice as he does dressing up for post-game interviews though, he might be ok.

I notice you sent that at 3:30 am. Presumably after a long night of drinking?
DJ threw 55% for 2,200 yards, 9 touchdowns, and 10 picks last year. The second worst in the entire country overall and worst in Clemson history (Streeter was the worst until that point, not sure why you hire a trash QB to coach QBs). You're talking about him getting FAR more accurate, throwing 1,000 more yards, increasing his TDs 5 fold, and throwing less picks? Let me know what you were drinking because it seems like good stuff.

9th ? Lol good lord. Honestly, a Clemson Q B should never be ranked 9th in his own conference in 2022. If through 3 games its a repeat of last year, I'd bench him and never look back. Cause if he plays like last year and stays in. You can assume 10-3 might be another stretch.

If he plays exactly the same as last year we go 10-3 at the worst. The team is stacked. None of us will be happy with 10-3 though. We will have squandered one of the best D's in Clemson history. If DJ costs us 2 games it will be disappointing. He needs to improve drastically.

Well lets just hope that somebody in our QB room has seen an opportunity to take over at QB if DJ fails, and they have done everything possible to prepare themselves for that opportunity. A QB that can complete short to midrange passes at a high % rate will do fine, especially with the RB room that we have.
Plus I believe we could win the big one with a serviceable QB that isn't turning the ball over, or taking sacks that should have been prevented by just throwing the away without it costing us a penalty, and we will be just fine. But wouldn't it be an awesome thing if we had a Tajh Boyd like QB for this season coming up. I believe our offense would be almost unstoppable if we had a younger Tajh Boyd behind center this 2022 season!!!

If DJ struggles against GT I'd start Cade against Furman. This defense is too good to waste on a QB with "potential" if he's not producing. Physically DJ is very gifted but mentally he has struggled heavily. Id love to see him pick apart GT but would he be able to play that way in a Natty or would the demons come back to haunt him? Im glad we have several options at QB this season, I trust Dabo to make the right decisions. GO TIGERS!!!!
