Something Rotten in Clemson?

Nov 16, 2014, 10:24 PM

First of all, I like Dabo and the kind of program that he has put together and runs. What I do not like about him is his dishonesty and spin tactics that should not be coming from a Christian coach. He continues to insult the fan base by saying stuff that we can all see is not true. I think a lot of Cole Stoudt, but for whatever reason(s)--confidence, injury, morale, preparation--Cole is not a good QB right now, and should not play if we have any other reasonable options. He has had his chances and done some good, but on balance, he is not who/what we need directing the offense. The fishiest thing about this whole discussion is Dabo's reluctance to put blame on Cole for his mistakes to the point of making me wonder what kind of deal or arrangement has gone on behind the scenes to produce such a denial of the facts. This has also happened with other players who appear to be "more equal" than the rest for some reason(s). Treat them all the same, Coach, praise them when they do good and call them out when they don't. Do it in a truthful, yet positive way, and we will all respect you more for being honest!

"Not gonna name a starter today," Swinney said. "Probably not gonna name one tomorrow, probably not gonna name one Tuesday. We'll go back to work. Obviously Cole Stoudt played really poor. There is no way to sugar coat that. He had a bad game."

What else do you want him to say?

I take that as "cole's starting"

Maybe we start looking for different coach.

Wow, tell me this then firing a coach after the past 3 seasons e have had, who will come? And why would they, Dabo and offensive staff having a bad year, graduated tons of talent rebuilding year already, as injuries, well there is only one miracle worker and his name isn't Morris OR Dabo

When you look at the dismissal of Kelly, the criticism of Deshaun, the praise for Cole and the reluctance to put in Shuessler all at the same time it certainly looks a little too odd.

With all his success, his highest salary was $25,000 a year. The president of the university, Dr. R. F. Poole, feared that professors who earned less would be upset. "He called me up and said that he didn't want me to tell anybody what I made," Howard once said. "I said: 'Doc, you don't have to worry. I'm as ashamed as you are of what you pay me.' You have obviously done a lot of coaching in your day. You don't blast your players (EVEN IF THEY SUCK) to the media. I assure you that Dabo has talked to Cole and mentioned his disappointments directly to him (like it should be handled)

palmetto is absolutely correct and anyone with a pea for a brain should realize exactly that.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

..I don't believe Dabo is being dishonest......

Nov 16, 2014, 10:42 PM

..rather I think he sees in his players something more than just machines you put on the field, like say a Steve Spurrier does.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Deer Clueless,

Nov 16, 2014, 10:46 PM

here's a clue.

Dabo is a coach and a fan of his players. The classiest thing I've ever seen a coach do was Joe Pa back in his post gamer after losing to Clemson.

"I got out coached."- Joe Pa

That was a lie. We beat them in just about every facet of the game. He didn't get out coached PUS players got out played. He took the blame because his boys had suffered enough from the loss.

Dabo is a class act. If you want someone who throws all the blame on players after a loss become a USuCk fan.

What to look for: 'We didn't execute. We should have played better. We couldn't get off the field on defense. They played their best but it just wasn't good enough."

You now have a clue but I can't help you with your other problem. I don't have an extra life to spare.

i am still trying to figure out how you put "class" and joe

Nov 17, 2014, 12:00 AM

pa in the same sentence. imo, he threw away his legacy by befriending a pedophile.

Praise Jebus..someone on here does have some sense. Is it a good look when the old ball sack throws Shaw, his defense, his asst coaches all under the bus. NO. You really want Dabo to come out to media and start blasting specific players, coaches, etc? I sure dont. You dont hear Saban do it, Meyer do it...because thats how you keep a group of 18-21 yr olds together through the battles...when they know the head man has their back.

YOURE UPPER LIP IS ROTTEN

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Honest question, assuming you are serious.

Nov 16, 2014, 10:55 PM

What, exactly, do you think there is to gain by a coach putting down a player in public? What is achieved? What good is done?

The simple truth to any rational person is that the coaches see Stoudt as the best of some fairly non-amazing options. So again, what is to gain by insulting him to the media and not trying to build him up?

And to add to my above post..

I have been told, by ACTUAL PLAYERS, that he is a real hard ### on them in practice and doesn't put up with any crap. And I think his demeanor on the sidelines only furthor prove this. And that's where it should stay. Unheard by us and between the team only.
