Have had some suggest that downtown Ft Worth is best place to stay compared to Dallas.
And recommendations from you fellow Texans?

My honest opinion. If you are 30 or younger I’d recommend Dallas. If you are 40 or older I’d recommend Fort Worth. Fort Worth is a slightly closer drive and in my estimation a little easier, but in today’s GPS world it’s all easy enough. If you’re looking for a really high end hotel, then it’s Dallas. Arlington, around the stadium is fine too, it’s a large purpose made entertainment district.
One other thing to think about for everybody. DO NOT GET CROSSWAYS WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT IN TEXAS. They will not look the other way. If you go wild, you can expect to pay the price.

Good brisket and where to watch the Bama game after our game.
It would be nice to stay close to where we plan on hanging out. Anywhere within 30 mins or so of the stadium.

I’m trying to figure out where to stay as well. We’ll be there the 27th-30th.

Give me some criteria. What “specifically” are you looking for? Restaurant’s? Nightlife? Shopping? On a budget or the best money can buy?

Do not recommend staying in Arlington except the convenience to the stadium. Limited restaurants and no night life. I've worked beside the Rangers ballpark for 30 years.
Fort Worth is more low key and Dallas is more flashy, trendy. Both have great food and great nightlife. Lots of new music venues popping up in FW last 5 years. But can't go wrong either way, just depends on what you like or need.

Stay in Grapevine. Great bars/restaurants, shopping and hotels. And a short drive to stadium

Agreed with the comparisons generally. I live in Fort Worth, and hate going to Dallas. Fort Worth is a Texas version of Greenville, easy to get around and friendly people.

Here are some Fort Worth recommendations for you

if you choose to stay/visit there:
1. Fort Worth Historic District/Stockyards. Definitely "old west" and a cool area. 2. Kincaid's Hamburgers. A "greasy spoon" and a Fort Worth institution since the 1970s. 3. Railhead Smokehouse. Excellent barbecue. 4. Joe T. Garcia's. Also a Fort Worth institution, since the 1930s.
I love Dallas too, so if you stay there you'll have a blast too.

Many reasonably-priced hotels surrounding Sundance Square downtown. Good selection of bars and restaurants within walking distance if the weather is decent.
The Fort Worth Stockyards is an easy Uber ride for a steak at Riscky's or Cattleman's and a honkytonk band at Billy Bob's Texas. You will get the Texas experience better here than Dallas (Dallas feels more like Atlanta).
Also an easier drive from Fort Worth to Arlington and DFW than from Dallas.

Also recommend Babe's Chicken Dinner House for all-you-can eat Texas family style food.
Original one is in Roanoke Texas out by the speedway, but you can find them all over the Metroplex.
