Contenders to Pretenders

Oct 30, 2013, 5:01 AM

One more ESPN rant. I was watching one of their shows, can't remember which, and Finnbaum (sp) was saying we were never contenters but pretenders. What's up with these guys? Can you only play football in the SEC? OK, we lost a game. USucK loses to a bad Tenn team and now Mr. Find a Bomb thinks they are wonderful, we lose to proably the best team in the country and we become a pretender. BullShoot!!

My son who gets up early like I do read this post and sent me a text. He says, "Quit watching those as*----s." Good point but I do like discussions about college football just not the Finnbaum guy. BTW how does a guy that looks like a marriage counselor get to be an expert?

Finebaum (sp?) is paid to love the SEC. That guy looks like

he was the last one picked playing backyard football. He was the kid who got hurt playing one hand touch football as a kid. Dr. (Phil) Finebaum looks like he has as much first hand experience with football as I do talking about knitting sweaters for kittens. I've never knitted, so I don't act like I know anything about it. That being said, I have serious doubt's he was ever a 5* recruit, much less a first round draft pick. Therefore, his comments about football hold as much sway with me as my instructions on knitting would hold with Martha Stewart.

Sorry, the (sp) just meant I wasn't sure of the spelling of the guy's name.

Nothing to be sorry for buddy. It meant I didn't know how to

spell his name either. I just Googled him. He was a Poly Sci major, and his biography mentioned NOTHING about him playing ball in any sport. Somehow this is the guy ESPN is telling us we should listen to about football? Like I said, if I want to know about my dogs health, I wouldn't take him to my accountant.

Looks more like the guy that gets arrested for having child #### on his computer.

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.

Stopped watching long time ago

Unless they are showing us. After the game off I go to some other game or some other activity. In the end the only credibility they have is when you choose to listen/watch. Otherwise their opinions go unheard.

His job is to get your goat. That is what he is good at and

nothing else. He will always be an SEC first guy, but he loves to put down any and every team that does not have Alabama in its name.

I personally don't care whether commentators have played/coached the game - there are many good ones who never have, but Finebaum's positions/views change faster than my wife's mind - just go back and see what he said about Clemson after we beat Georgia - it was all positive.
