Is anyone cheering against these 2 teams more than BrownL?
Pitt may have already played their way in.
Uva could definitely play their way in.
And then even if the ACC gets a 5th team in, that could be Wake.

They have no effect on Clemson making it because the Tigers are not on the bubble like those teams. Clemson will be an 8th seed at worst, but more likely a 6th or a 7th seed.

We are not on the bubble. All 96 brackets compiled in bracketmatrix have us in the field. The most pessimistic of those brackets has us as a 9 seed which still puts at worst 10 teams between us and the cut point. We are safely in the field.

Common sense would dictate that when 96 people with a demonstrated track record of correctly predicting 90%+ of at-large bids agree on something that thing is probably true.
I would ask if you think before you post but the answer to that is pretty self-evident.

We are not on the bubble. Now, should we be? That’s another story. The team I saw play last night was no 6 seed.

I don’t set the brackets. I just know how they’re done. Most reliable bracketologists have us as a 6 seed. I’ve been predicting 8 seed. But if Tigerdan were making the brackets, then they would be farther down.
No way we are one of the best 24 to 32 teams in the tournament based on our play over the second half of the season. On a given night, we could beat Purdue, UNC, or anyone else. Or we could get blown out by Boston College. We are too inconsistent.

why Lunardi, Palm etc. predict anywhere from 66 to 68 correctly almost every year. And if they miss, one of the teams they had on the 11-12 line not someone on their 6 or 7 which is where we are. They are not sitting around saying this team looked better than this one in their last game as that is not how the selection process works. It works off things like quad wins, NET ranking, SOS, non conf SOS, how you performed on the road as critical. It’s math, analytics - they have all the historical data that allows them to predict. No different than what any other sophisticated business would do for prediction modeling.

All we heard last year was that Clemson was a lock. But... We lost by 16 to BC, remember? But with our finish, I think Pitt, Wake and/or UVa would get that spot. The ACC may get 4 teams in.

I don't know who you were listening to but no one had us as a lock last year. We were firmly on the bubble with the vast majority of prognosticators having us on the outside looking in.

Some on here don't know who this works. Go look at the NET rankings. No one with a top type 38 Net rating has missed it with 20 or more wins. You are in a pool nationally, not anything with what your conference does as far as strength.

Some on here don’t know how this works.
There are a limited number of at-large spots available. Other teams around the country affect Clemson’s chances. ACC teams or otherwise. And there’s a lot of basketball to play between now and Sunday. Well…not for us, though.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

No one had us as a lock last year. No one loses as many quad 3 & 4 games as we did last season and makes the tournament, I don’t care what your overall record is. Don’t you remember how we got blown out by Loyola Marymount, which was one of the worst if not THE worst team in college basketball?

I'd be grateful for a 7 seed but it's un-earned. They're a .500 team since the start of the year, they've lost 3 of 4 (two of those to teams that won't even make the NIT) and finally, NO team will enter the NCAA tournament with such a loss as Clemson just experienced.
I was very vocal about the stiff job they got last year but to be fair, this team this year should be a bubble team and may be before the weekend is over. If they receive a 5 or 6 seed (maybe eve. A 7) than the NCAA seeding system and the NET is dangerously flawed and should be re-examined. That's coming from a huge supporter and fan of Clemson basketball.

that was the stretch we basically secured our bid. We lost at ND without Clark on SR night. We came back and beat SU handily, lost to WF in a tight one on the road when they had to have one. BC game was by far our worst of the year - no excuse for it even though BC is a decent team and playing well. Should have never lossed by that much. I’m ready for a coaching change but don’t think it happens if we win a game in the NCAAT. This team has earned its place in the tourney and for people who watch a lot of other basketball besides just Clemson then they understand there is no perfect team. Go through the rankings - look at Bamas record, Kansas, etc. and don’t give me conf blah blah - the ACC did quite well against both of those. It is very tough to win in any conference because of familiarity and that’s who you plan your team around. We did fantastic OOC against some good teams. Our body of work is more than enough. Winning any game other than a 1,2, or 3 seed in the NCAA is almost always a challenge these days. Hopefully we can make a run even if that means Neff has to keep BB. All I ask is no contract extension or just take the 1 year on at the same rate worst case.

They were not imo. Told the wife who would be in it after Bama beat Ga and watching FSU in the ACC championship. That game alone was an embarrassment for the conference that struggles for any respect.

Okay, for the OT (original troll). Here you go:
http://www.bracketmatrix.com/rankings.html
I didn’t see your guy Frappuccino on the list, but I could have missed it. I DID see the reliability of all these “Bracketologists” who pretty much all have Clemson anywhere from 6-8 seed, even after the ACCT disaster Wednesday night. Their variance for picking correct seeding within +/- 1 is remarkable.
Given their track records, that would make Clemson anywhere from 5 to 9 seed. I’m still predicting 8 seed myself. There is no eye test. It’s all metrics, and that’s what the metrics say taking into account the entire body of work.
