Cincinnati Making Playoffs with Classes Ranked in Fifties

Dec 15, 2021, 9:51 PM

Cincinnati's 2018 - 2021 classes averaged 50 by 247 and 54 by Rivals. They still had the best classes in the AAC. The key is having the best classes in your conference. UNC was the only ACC school with a better class that Clemson this year. If they continue that over the next couple of years, then Clemson may have a problem.

They also didn't sign less than 17 in a class during this

If all you want to do is out-recruit ACC schools, you have set your sights way too low. I thought we wanted to hang with the elite programs.

And we’ll see how far top-50 recruiting will take Cincinnati against Alabama.

^^ Not far I’m afraid..

but they did hang til last seconds vs Georgia last year in bowl but remember: 1. Dawgs didn’t want to be there. 2. Ga had couple 1st stringers out.

They have no business in the playoffs. You’ll see on December 31

rankings don't win, good players coached by good coaches win.

It increasingly seems to me no one here actually watches college or knows anything about it except maybe a little bit about Clemson. 18 of Cincinnati’s 22 starting offensive and defensive player are in their 4th year or more in the program. This is why they are having the season they are having. Pittsburgh was in a similar situation this year. Both of which were heavily enabled by covid rules changes which are apparently going to pretend didn’t happen so we can bash our own team? Clemson, on the other hand, has the youngest roster since the playoffs run began by double. So we don’t particular need a huge class this year. Our numbers were light to begin with that make the losses seem more dramatic. But we had the #1 recruiting class two years ago. Roster restrictions go back in place next year. But covid super seniors will potentially be with us for 3 more years. Deal with it.

I gave you a rare TU because you are spot-on, in spite of your snark.

This also goes to the effect of the portal: coaches have got to keep selling their bench players so they can develop the depth in their programs.

However, none of those seniors will stop Williams. If he doesn't target somebody and get tossed like he did vs Auburn, Bama will win by 3 TDs.
