Choice needs to redshirt

He has good potential. It is dumb to have 6 eligible backs. Why waste a year where he is prob behind Gallman, Dye and Brooks? The only reason he played last year was because of the Brooks injury. I think we need to not waste a year of eligibility here.

Don't worry he will, they just won't announce it until after fall camp. Can't tell a kid he should sit a year this far out give him nothing to work for.

I agree - and getting another year of separation between him and Gallman and Dye would be a good thing.
It's tough, though, for a kid to just mentally shut it down and write off a year.
One thing that would make the decision easier is if he's not 100% when fall camp rolls around. Especially since it's so durn easy to re-injure an ACL all the time you can give a guy to rehab is often not quite enough.

They will also have to wait and see on the injury situation. If several backs go down, they will need him. Otherwise, RS him.

On a more cereal note...

I think Choice was emerging as perhaps our starter at RB last season. I'm not knocking on Brooks, but I think he seemed a bit slow in the chute drill compared to the other backs. Plus, he seemed to be hesitant when hitting the hole in some of those drills and was easily stuffed when he made contact. I hope Brooks emerges as a premiere weapon, but it still seems like he's got some polishing to do. I just feel like he is getting left by the wayside by guys that were already more physically capable from the get go and are continuing to excel.
I know Choice is missing some substantial time this Spring so maybe Brooks overtakes him...but as of right now, Brooks looked the least impressive (JUST FROM THE PRACTICE VIDEOS). I may be completely wrong and wouldn't mind that one bit...I just think Choice is probably one of our better backs.
It sounds like Fuller isn't going to allow himself to be left off the field. Gallman is earning high praise and from last season, appeared to earn a big role in our offense. Dye is very promising...he looked like LIGHTENING in one of those practice videos...very impressive quickness.
Honestly, we're pretty rich in that department and whatever the coaches/players decide, we'll be fine. After all, we've got a titan heading this way next year...

yeh i would love to see them initially apply for a redshirt- you can always pull it mid season if needed, but you cant do it the other way around. i really think gallman/dye/brooks & apparently fuller is right there w/ them, will be plenty to keep backs healthy & have some diversity at the position.
personally i think davidson will get lost in the fold once the big games come. but giving choice a rs would allow him & feaster to be complimentary backs for a while.
also for him, although you can get cleared to run again from acl surgery in 4-6 months pending conditions, it takes a good year to really get back to elite level (what i think clemson will be this year) athletics.
they did a good job w/ dye last year, letting him come back gradually, & therefore he never re-injured it. but all signs point to that he's looking so much better this spring than he did last fall. so i'd love to not have choice at ~80% his max ability wasting an eligible yr to get 5-10 snaps a game, unless of course he just stands out as the stud of the group or attrition occurs & you cant afford to keep him off the field.
just my thoughts. go tigers!
