Yesterday was his best game since the UNC ACC championship game last season. FAU has the 71st ranked total defense. FSU is 101st.

LSU, versus that murderer's row, has the 60th ranked total defense. That is the best FSU has faced. Clemson is 8th.
Way too much stock placed in an LSU game I don't think anyone scared of FSU watched. LSU failed to convert on 4 and Goal from the 1 and failed to convert on 4 and 1 from the FSU 13. LSU muffed a punt at their own 22 but Jordan Travis immediately threw an interception. If Brian Kelly wasn't inept it would have been 23-14 at the half. It very much reminded me (or our game reminded me of it) of the comedy of errors that was the Duke game. Then, for whatever reason, the LSU defense decided not to come out of the locker room for the second half. The allowed FSU to score on every possession of the second half - 4 touchdowns and field goal, while the offense decided to throw interceptions on their own side of the field.
If we let FSU score on every possession of the second half then I'm pretty sure we lose too - no matter what else happens. That 31 point second half is what they scored the whole game against BC. It is equal to their first half against Southern Miss an only trails the 35 point second half against Southern Miss. I guess this Saturday will let us know what the real outliers are.

Anything could happen because it's a football game. But predictions of FSU's rise and Clemson's demise are ridiculously premature. All of these stats come with FSU having a 5th year starting QB playing his 6th complete season of college football (one who was supposedly good enough to be a top 3 rounder and was given a juicy NIL deal to come back) against a guy who will be making his 6th start. I like our chances.

You could tell the potential was there from his first start. He continues to maKe throws fhat DJ wouldnt have even completed. He continues to get more and more confident in the pocket. Omce he gains fill confidence in the pocket, he will be VERY dangerous.
I expect a big game next week.

Believe that the offense goes bland because we lose our mix, speed and depth of plays... I hope this is intentional but don't think it is worth it not to play to the best of our ability just so we don't show! Still do not think our tight ends and backs get enough work in the middle! Had that same issue last several years and it hurt us! I like to see us mix so much that the competition has no idea! Keep em guessing and once they are down don't let them up!

I don’t think Riley has even opened up the play book much this season. Come Saturday you might see plays that he hasn’t shown the competition so far. Really expect to see a much different offense this weekend.

I think we saw a lot of new stuff this week already. The offense looked completely different in the first half. Both the plays and level of execution. Still some baffling stuff in the short yardage game. It also was obvious that Dabo just wanted the guys to go out and have a clean first series of the 2nd half and call it day. But they couldn't close. It should show folks how hard it can be to get these guy's heads in the game. They knew the game was over and played like it. I think this was a huge part of the problem at Duke. They got lulled to sleep and never got their heads straight. We saw it in the first half last week. And in the second this week. I don't think motivation is going to remotely be an issue this Saturday.

I'm mostly struck by how many long time users of this board are almost attempting to wish in to existence an FSU return to dominance. It started with the second half of the game last year - which was ugly but we were never in any real danger or losing. When the argument hinges on converting onside kicks you really don't understand gamblers fallacy. I'm not impressed with Norvell as a coach. Their quarterback is good - he's like the 7th or 8th best qb over 23 years of age playing college football. He's behind Riley Leonard on most draft boards. I know we lost but that was on the road and we played like ###. He is no Chris Weinke and this isn't a Tommy Bowden coached football team.

have beat handily, no matter how many starters they have returning, was way more prepared to play a football game that night. We sucked out loud and I said so. That one should sting for a while.
My point is, as pathetic as that was, it was one game, and I'm not giving up or calling for Dabo's head. Last night, we looked better. We may not win the National Championship, and we may not beat FSU, but I feel a lot better about it after last night's game against FAU. Are we good enough to beat FSU? I don't know, but last night was a step forward.

FAU's mighty D beat the Ohio Bobcats team and their now 120th ranked scoring offense. And they beat up on the mighty Monmouth squad which is an FCS program not worth mentioning.
Not that anyone cares.
Cade hasnt seen what he's about to see come noon Saturday. And I doubt he can handle it.

Lol. Are you talking about the “elite pass rush”. While you’re busy trashing Clemson opponents did you bother to look at FSU’s. Looked at their defense stats. Sagarin has us rated 1 place ahead of LSU. Add home field advantage and we’re the favorite. Warren Nolan projects us as a 2 point favorite with a 58% chance of winning. But Cade’s just not going know what him come noon on Saturday. Gibberish.

Stats don't win games. I think we'll be fine. We could argue that we tromped a couole of cupcakes win some sizeable hiccups that indicate big problems, but I see a steady improvement. It probably won't be a full song against FSU, but I think good enough to win. We just need a solid 4 qtrs and we can beat anybody out there.

No, stats don’t win games - hence losing to Duke despite winning virtually every stat. But they are incredibly important to the outcome. Which is why the Duke game is an incredible outlier total history of Clemson football. Stats tell us what might happen with the highest chance of reliability. Those stats tell us that Cade is improving and that, based on his stats to date, it should be a highly competitive game. If he takes another step forward, we could win easily. He could regress too but I know which one I prefer.
