One for today's catch...if they would have paid to go with me. Dang trout killed the top water ALL DAY....but only ine hooked up. Only you guys thst fish for them with artificial may really understand....but I have about 40 hit on top today. Several big trout and 4 or 5 big spottails...but only this peckerhead hooked up...

know on top water you just kind of tighten up until you feel them before setting the hook.....well....every time the spook just floated back up to the top. On about half of them I kept working it and they busted it again...same result....That is not uncommon...but it is uncommon to only catch one....out of 35 or 40....Still...it is exciting when every 10 minutes or so one is busting it...You ALWAYS know you are gonna get the next one...LOL. Just like Dabo. I know he plans on winning Saturday.

...I was especially horrible with top-water. Didn't matter if I was bass, redfish or trout. I'd invariably set the hook too quick and pull it out of his mouth. Didn't fish enough to get used to waiting.
