Legendary Florida State coach Bobby Bowden is enjoying his retirement and finding himself having success on the golf course.
Bowden, now 86, recorded his second career hole-in-one Monday morning, using a 3-wood from 121 yards out at the 12th hole at Quincy Golf Club outside Tallahassee, Florida.
Bowden told the Tallahassee Democrat that he hit his 3-wood and rolled it between the bunkers guarding the front of the green; the ball ran into the cup as the highlight of a round of 84 on Monday.
“I never hit the ball very high,” Bowden said. "I rolled it in the gap and it went right in. I had already walked away. I saw it rolling towards the hole and thought, ‘Oh boy, I have a good shot. I hope it stops.' Then I turned around and everyone said it went it in.”
According to Bowden, this is his second career ace with both coming in his 80s. His first was in Mobile, Alabama, five years ago.
“I started playing when I was 30, so you go 50 years without having one and you get into your 80s, you have two,” Bowden said. “You never expect it. You hit so many balls. All of a sudden it's in the hole. It's a funny game.”
Bowden, who was playing with former Florida State player and college football coach Gene McDowell and two others, joked that he was too cheap to go to the bar after the round and buy a round for everyone after his hole-in-one.

I watched a guy do it LIVE on his first ever round and first par 3. His swing would have made Charles Barkley look like Jordan Speith. It was some kind of disheartening after playing for 15 years.

I've got one the ball is in the top of my dresser. 8 iron from 164. I came really close again with a ball ending about 10 inches from hole, oddly enough at the same hole.
