Biggest suprises this football season that led to our

success:
1. DW's running ability. I think everyone knew he could throw it but his running ability has been crazy good the last few weeks. I knew he was a good runner but he's been like a cross between Cam Newton and Tommie Frazier.
2. Being able to play the whole year with only two LBs, Goodson and Bouleware. We have virtually no depth at LB or any ready to play I'm guessing because these two played virtually every minute of every game unless the game was out of reach. We had good luck in that neither has any kind of serious injury. If either had been injured and out for a significant amount of time, I don't see us being undefeated. These two aren't as good as the two we had last year and don't play the pass near as well but they've been good enough and pretty dang good at times.
3. Offensive line has played out of their minds compared to what I expected. They've overachieved to the highest degree. Also we haven't had the misfortune of any major injuries to this group.
4. Gallman has surpassed my highest expectations of him. I wasn't impressed with him coming into the year but he gets better and better.
5. Defensive line has been almost as good as last year which means they've been very good.

Biggest suprise to me is that DW stayed healthy all year.

I thought we'd be pretty good but would drop some games if he went down (and based on last year I assumed he would get hurt at some point).
Similar to what you said about the LBs, if we lost a LB, DE or #4 we would have been much easier to beat. Could probably say the same about Gallman - it's a pretty steep dropoff with him out.

Health at LB and QB. Impressive play of young OL.

Pretty much all the Young talent stepping up and nobody really taking a step back. Dabo hit on the big name recruits, but some of the "other" recruits through the last few years have been hits, including Goodson, TJ Green, Token White Posession Reciever, Dodd, etc..

Receiver we've had in the past. That includes Humphries.
He actually goes up high in the air and makes catches.

I think it's the fact those guys work hard and are coached hard. Guillermo coming back has been the biggest key IMO, he's been solid at center and keeps the huddle loose.

year until now.
11, 12, 13, 14....or OL was not that good.
Hyatt has a lot to do with it, as does our scheme. Our OL is highly competent and they do their job. Not sure they are anything more than that.
Caldwell gets credit, but he also has to take the blame for poor OLs in years past.

all they really need to do is occupy their guy. RBs and DW then just hit the gaps and dey gone.
It's very hard for a defender to deal with a blocker AND make a tackle in the split second a guy with the ball arrives.

from the goal line right before half last sattiday (was a quick snap - next play we threw a TD IIRC). I don't think the OL got much of a push.
Also knowing how dominant Cam Newton is in that situation, I expect DW wants to be able to do that with some consistency. Would help his draft status I would think.

Gallman has been such a beast running the ball that it's really opened up DW to run as well, it's almost become pick your poison between those two. This also has really opened up the passing game as well LB can't sit in coverage
