Main St. in Columbia did more business that week than Christmas week. School classrooms were decorated in garnet and black or orange and purple. The frosh teams played on Little Wednesday. The State Fair was packed across the street. Most businesses closed on Thursday. Only game played across the nation on Thursday, getting great press coverage. What great memories!

Gator Farr delivered the sermon at the Gamecock funeral a few days before the game. I only attended the last Big Thursday Game but it was Clemson win. Lots of fistfights at the fair and in the stadium.

and b/4 game several of us jumped hedge to go out onto the field to retrieve our Tiger mascot’s tail that had been ripped off by Coot male cheerleaders..

but that was futile especially since they were 5 on 3, older & bigger..

so i ran for the hedges but as I was about to dive over them one Coot grabbed the rear back pocket of my kaki pants just enough to rip it down exposing my underwear.

From that day on I knew Coots were bad!

Go TiGERS..ROCK the Coots!
