Didn't you know that a barrel of oil from Iran or Venezuela doesn't have the nasty carbon footprint like a barrel of oil from the US? Actually it has a larger footprint due to the transportation cost. For Iran, you also are funding the Islamic Revolutionary Guard which promotes terrorism around the globe. Truth is, the current administration ran on the platform of "green" which demonizes domestic oil producers. Over 20 court cases are ongoing that involve lawsuits against domestic oil companies for climate change or sea level change. These are being filed at the state level. So the government is suing the oil companies but suddenly would like them to produce more oil and gasoline? Huh? Nobody in the green party actually did the calculations of how long it might take for everyone to switch to the green alternatives and there was no interim plan. We are the largest oil producer in the world by far so we are lucky. When you have the same green goals, no plan on how to get there, and few resources, then you become like western Europe. Not to get political, but it makes the administration look like hypocrites when some campaigned to eliminate big oil and then do a total 180. Moot point really, the labor, infrastructure, raw materials, etc. are not in place to significantly change domestic output in the short term so the high prices will be in place for a while - the futures contracts have already been purchased for multiple months out at elevated prices. Better beef up the math of green in a hurry.

Well if we just quit importing Russian oil that would mean we were buying Russian oil. Go ahead and provide proof that you are pumping US fuel into your tank. Not the smartest economists in the world but if it was US oil why would the price increase? This is why I can’t argue with folks. Pointless.

I'm not worried. I'm going to convert our car to electric. But I'm going to do it the smart way. I'm attaching a windmill to the roof. Even if the wind isn't blowing, the momentum of the car will turn the turbine.

Moving fossil fuel extraction from one continent to the next does not reduce carbon emissions or impact the environment differently from one choice to the other. This is what you get for electing bartenders Congresswomen and whoarz as VP.

Yea that’s what I never understood about the green people. If it’s a global issue why is it ok for China to now be making most of what we used to here in the US.

The left’s goal is to destroy the United States. There are many useful idiots ready to take up the cause. Some for idealistic reasons but the politicians are in it for the grift. Does it make sense now?
The Earth has gone through large temperature swings throughout its history. But this time we can “save” the planet if we just give the leftists all the power and all the money. Easy peasy.

You are not to informed on the swings of temperature. those were happening over huge moments in time and now it is happening in a century. If you went back in time 60 million years you wouldn't be even able to breath because the oxygen content was different at that time. Just look at C)2 levels over history and see how much that has changed since the beginning of the industrial revolution.

It's called corporate greed, left and right. People like you have to hate on green and left even if makes no sense. The reason so much is made in China is short term profits of corporations. Even if it puts us at risks health wise, drugs or masks, and economic security, chips.
Tell us about all the manufacturers who built new plants in America under Trump (how about 0)? Maybe the left will announce a new chip plant to be built in America.
How about all the money tax breaks given to the top 1%. The rich gave me some of their windfall profits. How about you? This didn't increase our national debt did it? Sure helped inflation.
Some people don't understand greed, politics or economics.

Microchip plants under Trump…
Mar 12, 2022, 9:15 PM

Other than the last 6 months of his Presidency, why would anyone invest billions in a factory where there is no demand issue?
Intel and Samsung have since come out and said they are both building plants worth tens of billions. Do you have any idea how long it takes to get all the put in place before an announcement? Hint, it’s not 6 months.

About two-thirds of our oil and gas here in the US is produced from domestic sources. And, the top 3 imports are from Canada, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia.

Well why is Biden blaming Putin for our higher prices? If we were importing from Canada or Mexico why the increase. Neither of those are involved in the conflict. Why was it mentioned that after we quit importing Russian oil we were in talks with the Saudi’s and Venezuelan on getting their oil and Canada was not even mentioned. If what you claim is true our prices should not have changed.

Because global supply and demand affect the price per barrel, not just US supply and demand. And Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, coupled with economic sanctions from all over the world, are driving up that per-barrel price.

Uh, I own a significant amount of stock in domestic oil companies. Yes, most are making good money at these elevated prices but over the past five years I am just over break even on a basket of maybe 8 different domestic companies (that' called dead money is the equity trade business) The Covid crash bankrupted many domestic producers and banks or private equity will not invest in oil companies. If you think they are gouging you then go buy some Exxon, Chevron, or BP stock. You will lose your rear end. Their profit margins pale in comparison BTW to a company like Apple. Don't hear anyone complaining about paying $800 for a phone that costs $20 to produce. It's supply and demand and yea, domestic oil is trying to fix their balance sheets (which are in many cases a total mess) so that they can transition to a different future that has a balance of oil and renewable products. It takes money to make this happen.

If their profit margin is the same, record high prices would lead to record high profits.
I’m guessing the company you work for would benefit the same.
