Anyone think we have the hill tradition backwards?

So the idea is 110% or no laying of filthy hands on the rock. We all know it well. But just like tipping a delivery driver before they’ve brought your food, what’s the guarantee of effort when the incentive has already been obtained?
I’m thinking that going forward, the team should walk in from the WEZ—maybe run through a paper banner or something if it’s a big game—and then go play the game.
After the game is over, the coaches decide who gave 110%, and they get to run UP the hill while the fans cheer, while the ones who didn’t do wall sits and planks until exhaustion.
Might need a little tweaking, but I think this could be huge.

That defeats the point of the tradition. Frank Howard told his players that if they weren't willing to give 110% to keep their da** hands off of his rock. By rubbing the rock they were signifying their willingness to give said 110% in the upcoming game.
Also, why would you want to replace the greatest entrance in college football with something as lame as what every other team does including the JV in Cootlumbia?
