about to be great again? I know I'm not exactly an objective, unbiased expert, and I always get excited about this time of year, but dang, I really think we are building back up and should be improved this year, and going forward.

Agree. I see nothing to be negative about. I’m proud to be a full fledged Tiger supporter. If it Clemson … it’s good!

Yes. And, this is the best shot ....

[ in reply to Re: Anybody else get the feeling that Clemson football is ] |

.... FSU will have to beat Clemson in the past 8 years, at least. But, more interesting than that to me is it is the best shot to beat Clemson for the next two years at least.
Thjis is the year for FSU to excel. The amount of talent on the team this year that will be leaving (either for the NFL or just being seniors) is remarkable. Next year not only will FSU be breaking in a new and untested QB, he (whoever he is) will not be near the quality Travis is.
And, because Norvell has had to use the portal to improve the roster, payday is coming. Lot of seniors in the two deep depth chart.
I think this year's FSU team would be favored over last year's Clemson team even if the game is in Clemson. But, I think Clemson will be far improved over last years team. So, at best, it will be a pick 'em game.
And, if FSU can't stop the Clemson win streak this year, then when can they?

I think we are on the right path now. Hopefully Riley will get us back to a top 10 offense or better. When that happens the recruiting follows. If Riley stays a few years we should see consistent playoff berths and hopefully a couple more nattys

I try not to let my expectations get too high or too low. I just want us to play to our standard and stay healthy. With that in mind, improvements will come and the results will follow.
Everything follows a process and a plan for success and I think we are getting back on track and building sustainable momentum.

Expectations are always high, especially with Swinney Tiger football, and this game will be no different. Perhaps I shouldn’t say this but I think many fans are very anxious to see this Tiger team with a new leadership at quarterback. If we all leave this game with good feelings about the ‘pass/catch’ game we will have high expectations for 2023. Speaking only for myself, I wasn’t very excited at last years spring game. It was apparent to me that we were short a few skilled players ….. and we were! One thing that I hope I see Saturday is good, on the field leadership. Players who refuse are vital. I’m not sure you can coach that but I think you can recruit it!
See you Saturday
Treat us right weatherman. Last year you let me down!

Rumors of Dabo's demise have been greatly exaggerated.
The offense will rebound - and more - under Riley, Cade, Ship, Jake and that O-line (I expect them to be the best in years). The cupboard is far from bare.
As a result, offensive recruiting will rebound as well. In fact, I think we're already seeing increased interest.
And I expect the defense to be dominant since we will [likely] be playing complementary football again.
I'm like you: totally biased. But there is a LOT of reason for optimism, objectively.

I think so.
GR can't hurt our offense; he can only enhance it. To me the offense has been what we have lacked the last few years. Teams are going to score; "if you give them enough chances" because your offense keeps going 3 and out. But, having an explosive offense changes the play calling for the opponent and keeps the other teams offense off the field.
We get the O back in line and I think we are right back in the conversation for "Best"!

smilingtiger ... The arrivals Riley and CK2 as starter far eclipse the departures more than most can anticipate. There will be a learning curve on O and D, but Wesleychick is acclimated and Coach Eason is really getting the job done with Peter Woods onboard and returnees. Spring has sprung, and renewed promise is in the air! I'll be there with my son in two days. Go Tigers!

To win a National Championship, I think we still need elite receiverS. We do not have the quality of receivers we’ve had in the past. Tell me who is like Hunter Renfrow or Armri Rodgers. Who is the Nuke Hopkins, Tee Higgins or Mike Williams. When we have that level of receiving corps, we will be back and even better.

Similar to how Alabama was dominating everyone, and we had to show the CFB world they were mortal, UGA is there now… feels like we are the only ones capable of doing the same to them. We aren’t the hero the rest of CFB wants, but we are the one they need. I think we provide that service again like we did to Bama.

I’m always optimistic. I’m more concerned about what Clemson will look like in the landscape of college football in 10 years.

Excited about this team. I think the talent is there. Like any Championship team you will have to catch a few breaks along the way. Area's of concern are the receivers, kicking, corners and offensive line. Can't wait.

All the ingredients are there. We have boatloads of talent,

and are back to being discounted, if not disrespected. Dabo will slap a new coat of paint and some 36" wheels on the ROY Bus, and away we go! Will we have some growing pains on offense? Shirley we will, but I do believe the excitement is going to be back.
Defensively, we have all the makings of a monster. If the front four can return us to the days of constant QB pressure, the back end guys are good enough to establish a single season record for picks. I am going full Nostrildammedus and making that bold prediction now.
Wish the season started tomorrow. But, it always takes forever to get here, and then once it starts, you blink and it is over.
I think we ought to expand the regular season to like 36 games, and replace the whole basketball season with football. Have the football season finish up a couple of weeks ahead of The Masters golf tournament. That would solve the argument about spring games being meaningless. Who's with me?

Riley seems to be a huge upgrade on the offensive side of the ball.

And I’m thrilled that Dabo seems to be allowing Riley to run the offense rather than meddling too much.
I still don’t think Goodwin was qualified to be promoted to DC, and our defense last year was underwhelming despite multiple future NFL players on the roster.
My concern is that our recruiting recently hasn’t been at a level which makes us a serious competitor for national championships. I don’t see any reason why we can’t at least move into being a top 10 team in the near future though.

Huh? Our roster and recruiting are on par or better than it was back in 2015, and 2016 for two NC appearances and one win.
Nobody disputes the recruiting landscape has changed, but our talent has not fallen off since then, in fact overall our talent is better.
Talent development at WR? That's another story, and it's the only position one could argue.

but it doesn’t seem like we have the same level of talent on the field.
Are some of our signees overrated because they are signed by us? I don’t know, but I certainly haven’t seen Deshaun Watson, Trevor Lawrence, Mike Williams, and Christian Wilkins level players on our roster in a few years. Have you?
To clarify, we are still extremely talented but I don’t see us having quite the talent Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State have.
And we’ve absolutely been lacking in the coaching/development department the last few years. That has to change, and I believe it will.
Basically, we are trying to recover from many of the poor hires/promotions that have occurred over the last few years.
