I'm 48 so not sure if that makes me old or not. Anyhow that's when it was safe to go to Myrtle Beach.

I understand why Burroughs did it, with gangs and riff raff, but those buildings are missed for sure. The rides are now at Broadway @ the Beach, but it's not the same. I spent many a night watching live bands in the Pavilion building. In the next 20 years look for a high rise hotel, where the rides use to be, with high end stores on the ground floor.

At least Family Kingdom is still down the Blvd with that vintage park feel. I always thought B&C took the Pavilion down to drive traffic to that colossal failure - Hard Rock Park.

Having been a military "brat" and served in the military myself, I never lived in a place long enough to see significant changes occur where I lived, until I was assigned to Colorado, where I have now been living for 47 years. Moved up from Colorado Springs to the town I now reside in in 1990, when this quaint town had a population of only 1,250. There were no stoplights here then, not a single one, only stop signs, and one small grocery store. The population in 2020 had grown to 12,500, and is probably approaching 14,000-15,000 now. There are now five stop lights in just .6 mile on Hwy 105 when driving east away from downtown, and a huge 300-400 unit apartment complex is underway down near Walmart. Many folks have lived up here for years like I have, and are sad to see what has/is happening to our little town. But guess that's just life.

Last time spent in MB for the beach experience was the mid 70s. The late 50s and the 60s for me were the best. Only go to the area now for golf outings with HS alums. Legends, Barefoot Landing and Litchfield several times with the latter due in October. Otherwise wouldn't be within 50 miles of MB.

They were showing Skee Ball machines on TV at the Iowa State Fair yesterday. I was thinking with the popularity of corn hole I am surprised Skee ball hasn't come back in a big way. It is a lot of fun.

That’s become a dangerous place. Used to vacate there every summer growing up. It was mainly a family ordeal back then.

And the guy that had a little motel called Holiday Inn. Big boys came to town and sued for the name, but lost. He was in MB years before the chain even existed.

Hang out at the Magic Attic as a teen back in the 70s. Hang out at The Bowery in the 80s. Hang out at the Pavillion in the late 90s and early 2000s with the kids. Haven't been back since they closed the Pavillion in 2006. They obviously no longer wanted it to be a family spot.

Ahhh. That warms my heart. Just to stand in front of those mirrors that make you look 7 ft tall or 7 ft wide one more time then upstairs to the music
