My best friend, also a Mason alum, has a younger brother who is an ECU alum. While his brother was a student there, we drove down to Greenville for a weekend. ECU played West Virginia that weekend in football. ECU won. That was a really fun time I'll always remember.

I was there 86 to 90. We got paid big money to lose to top teams and it helped build the program to a decent program. Could you imagine if Lincoln Riley had stayed and became head coach and his brother would have been the coordinator

For sure. The thing that blew me away was the group we partied with didn't start until midnight. That was their usual start time which was way later than I was used to.

I also have a CU family association in that my brother graduated there. I was actually accepted as a transfer student at CU, but decided on work vs school after two years at Greenville Tech. Fast forward a few years and I ended up graduating at Charleston Southern.

Lee Chapel, where I signed the White Book.
My ties to Clemson are many. Family and friends that attended, my father was hired by Frank Howard as Wilhelm's 1st assistant & the freshman baseball coach. He had played professional baseball and was a Civil Engineering student when Howard hired him.
As the story goes, Howard knew my dad and told him, "I'm not hiring you to make the baseball team better, I'm hiring you to make my football team better." For those that know & don't, Coach Smith who was the baseball coach at the time, was one of Howard's football coaches and only part-timed as the baseball coach. Howard wanted his staff to focus only on football, so he called HOFer Walter Rabb @ UNC and asked him for a recommendation for a full-time baseball coach. Coach Wilhelm was on staff at UNC, Rabb told Howard to look no further, Wilhelm was his man.

The only Lacrosse game I ever saw in person was Washington and Lee vs John aHopkins in about 1974-5. My sister went to Southern Seminary near by and we went over for the game. Both schools were ranked pretty high.

He's since been inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Fairly amazing during Coach Emmer's tenure, Washington & Lee was Division III, offered no athletic scholarships, but played DI in Lacrosse as an independent. I was fortunate to see some really good Lax while a student including the infamous Armadillo Game. Mike Pressler, among others, played for Coach Emmer before JE moved onto Army.

This was supposed to be a discreet way of smoking them out. An alum paid me 20 bucks to do this.

Got my bachelor's degree in 1973 and my master's 1 year later, both at Valdosta State College (now VSU).
My connection to Clemson is limited.
1. While in grad school at VSU I took a couple of courses from a young prof (really nice guy and a great teacher, BTW) who was a Clemson alum. Thanks primarily to his efforts I was offered a scholarship to work on a Ph.D. at Clemson. I also got engaged at about the same time. I decided to turn down the offer.
2. I attended Clemson in the summer of 92. I was teaching at a community college. Graphing calculators were just being used by colleges and universities. Clemson was a leader in using them. Spent 8 weeks sitting in on a calculus and linear algebra class learning how to incorporate them into the curriculum.
Side Note: Coincidentally, we hired a young kid just a couple of months before that who was just finishing his masters to come to VSU to teach math. Great guy. I was chair of the search committee that recommended him. (He's still employed at the community college I taught at for 30+ years and retired from.) Later on, he became the department head and was my boss.
3. I found T-net when I was following the coaching carousel and Clemson was looking for a coach. Y'all ended up hiring Tommy Bowden. Posted for a year or so after that. Been a Clemson fan (after FSU) since then. Came back to T-net a few years ago and was graciously welcomed back. Great community, T-net. I actually spend more time posting here than I do on my FSU board.

Baptist College at Charleston, now Charleston Southern. Brother played baseball at Clemson, son graduated from Clemson, many other relatives graduated from Clemson. One lone coot in the family. Says he does not know why he is a coot fan. Eats alone a lot at family reunions.

Funny, on my mother's side of the family, the ones who care about CFB are chicken fans, except for me, a younger cousin, and her husband and kids.
When relatives were visiting recently, my cousin's young daughter asked me, "Why are you a Clemson fan? We're a Gamecocks family."
All I could do is laugh.

A different orange CU, Campbell University, The Camels! 🐫 Wanted to play ball for Danny, didn't happen, only D1 school interested were the Wulfie (Nope) thought I'd walk on at Clemson, but ended up in another kind of uniform as one of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children. After retiring Campbell was a great local option and I have never regretted it. GO Tigers!

University of South Carolina. At least that's what my diploma says, but hear me out.
I was accepted to Clemson out of High School, but like an idiot, chose North Greenville to be a few minutes closer to my girlfriend who was still in high school in Greenville. I wound up dropping out after a couple of semesters at age 18. I went back at age 31. At that time, I had been a lifelong Clemson fan, and an Iptay member for 23 years (yes, since age 8). I didn't have the math credits (calculus, I believe) needed for Clemson this time around, but did not need them for USC-Spartanburg (now USC-Upstate). I never really considerd USC-Spartanburg to really be "USC" or the coots; they had a totally different, separate identity in my mind. They were The Spartans, and thier colors were green and white. It never really dawned on me until I got my diploma, and it said "University of South Carolina".
The girl the 17-year-old me ditched Clemson for broke up with me about the time school started, so that was all for nothing. Lesson learned. Not going to Clemson from the get-go is truly one of the biggest regrets of my lfe. I'm very proud of going back to college later in life and getting my degree, but I don't display my diploma or wear a ring!

My biggest regret is not going to Clemson. I was young and in love and didn’t want to leave my boyfriend. Of course we end up breaking up my freshman year. I graduated from the a small college, Limestone University. Unfortunately I had to get my Master’s from USuC since Clemson didn’t offer my program

Arizona State University - Online
I was born a Tiger Fan. My son is lucky enough to wear my 'Clemson All-American' T-shirt I wore as a baby/toddler. I wanted to go to Clemson but ended up joining the Navy instead. ASU has the Pat Tillman Military Scholarship and I am able to finish my Bachelor's and an MBA with my Navy TA, allowing me to save my GI Bill for some of my 5 children to use later. I do plan on doing the Clemson MSAL in Athletic Leadership when I retire - looking forward to it.
Our Clemson family is much larger than just those that went to school there.

I graduated from Ohio Northern University in 1979 but took some post grad classes at Clemson in 1983. I guess my 40 year investment in Clemson athletics doesn't make me a "real fan" some people's minds but I disagree mightily.

I went to Clemson for 3-1/2 years (on the 4-1/2 year plan😉). A sports injury and life changes sent me in a different direction. A few years later, I ended up graduating from the University of St. Francis.

Downtown did me in at Clemson. Went back and got a degree from Coastal Carolina almost 20 years later. It's amazing how well you can do when you enjoy school. Half of my credits came from Clemson so I still consider it a little bit of my alma mater.

Agree Bareftn. About 90 of my Clemson hours transfered to St. Francis. That's about 65% of of my B.S. degree from Clemson.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. More than half of that was distance learning. I joined the USAF a year out of high school. Took classes off and on between deployments and finally got the degree back in 2005.
Born and raised a Clemson Tiger, IPTAY member and season ticket holder in football and basketball.

I was raised in Clemson home. My dad was class of 48, mechanicalengineer. My younger brother was also a Clemson graduate. After my doctor pulled my ticket to the Air Force Academy (asthma), I had to scramble. I went to a local junior college but finished my undergrad at National University, La Jolla, CA. Later in life, I received my MBA at Johnson University, Knoxville. I'm still a die-hard anything Clemson supporter! Even today, I'm trying to connect folks in my organization who are exploring opportunities for agricultural economic development in Tajikistan with the fine folks at the Musser Fruit Research Farm, a unit of the Clemson University College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Life Sciences.

I live 25 miles from there.
My grandfather was a big Clemson fan that's how it started for me I went to whatever school would give me a scholarship or take me with my inferior grades. One of those was Oklahoma St. I'm still a tiger tho and attend games yearly.

Mason was my second choice behind Clemson. I was blessed to have received academic scholarships that covered 75 percent of tuition, room, and board. I'm still living within 30 minutes of Mason, but am looking to move to Tennessee when I can find suitable employment there.

In the 80s, high schoolers who lived in Montclair went to my high school in Dumfries (Potomac).

Hylton opened after I graduated. If I recall correctly, the athletic director at Potomac and varsity football coach left Potomac for Hylton at some point. The AD's last name was Qualls and the football coach was Bill Brown.
I know State streets and Veterans Park. I lived in Georgetown Village off of Route 1.

Two associates from the Community College of the Air Force, bachelor's from Saint Leo's University and a master's degree from Webster's University. I joined the Air Force after graduating high school and had all of my degrees paid by the Air Force. I went to whatever college or university was on that Air Force base, so over the years, I had courses from various schools. When I retired from the USAF, I was in good shape and went into education. Will retire again in two to five years.
My dad's side of the family are Clemson people, so I grew up Clemson. Easy to continue when your colleges do not have football teams. I watched the 81 National Championship game from Torrejon Air Base, Spain, but I attended the last two.

Parents met at Clemson, aunts and uncles went to Clemson, born in Simpsonville, moved to NC in ‘89 at 9 yrs old. It’s in my blood but my hatred is for Tobacco Road as opposed to coots.

I went to high school with a fella who was a year behind me who attended George Mason on a hoops scholarship. He would have been high school class of 82 (Eastside, in Greenville). Totally blanking on his name but a good guy. It's been a long time!

El cid…. Had way too much fun my freshman year at Clemson!!! Architect major since I was five but was not ready for calc 2 after breezing through high school!! Turned out to be an engineer!! And let’s just say the football season of 2003 didn’t help either!! Haha, went from saying I pull for both teams from SC pre college to the complete opposite and I’ve been a die hard ever since!

Started at Western Carolina where I hoped to be a baseball player but simply wasn't good enough at the next level...high school to college is a world of difference. transferred to UNCC, graduated 1997..BUT, I have always and will always bleed Clemson Orange until the day our Lord takes me home.
Raised in North Carolina or would have went to Clemson, but out of state tuition and my lack of academic or athletic scholarships ended that dream.
I've heard George Mason is a very nice school, congrats and thanks for post!
