An announcement of Clemson’s departure from the ACC is the last step in the process.

Rest assured that Clemson, Florida State, or any other ACC team will have a specific deal completely detailed and inked before publicly issuing an ACC departure announcement.
Clemson will know down to the penny what it will cost to exit and will have equal clarity of the offsetting benefits of doing so. Baked into that are the upside and downside litigation costs.
Altogether, the “math problem” aspect of Clemson leaving the ACC for the SEC is well understood.
Yes, that same math applies to where Clemson goes. For cultural, travel, rivalry, and sanity-based logistical reasons, Clemson will move to the SEC.

Perhaps not but hopefully not the SEC. I have hated everything about them forever so can’t stomach our fans chanting SEC…which is far worse than the woo Hoo

..football, just tell me what the chant is, and I'll chant it. Nothing will take the place of our Clemson cheer no matter where we are.
Moreover, I will still hate LSU, UGA, UF, and certainly the chickens if we are in the SEC or not.

So playing Vanderbilt, Missouri, Arkansas, South Carolina or Mississippi St is better.

Yeah because playing Indiana, Minnesota, Illinois, Maryland, Rutgers, and Northwestern is so much better than what we currently play in the ACC.
But October and November are so awesome in those Northern cities. Airports are great too. You can almost always catch a progressive protest in the area. Glad the trip is so nice because only 1 or 2 B1G teams have ever been good enough to sniff the playoff. Dook and Wake Forest have a better shot in the new era before 10 B1G teams.

“It’s fun,” “it’s different,” “don’t be stuck in the past,” “everyone is a little bit gay, c’mon,” etc.
I’ll probably still do it mockingly every time we beat Auburn, Alabama, or Georgia. Maybe Tennessee.

We have 19 sports at Clemson and Presidents Clements, Neff and the BOT will consider all 19 because of the investment in athletes, coaches and facilities. Football is the driver, but not the only factor, and if we are invited to join another conference the fit for the overall program will come first. We can absolutely make a 12 team football Playoff in the ACC, the Big 12 and the Big 10 but making it in the SEC is a tougher deal. Changing conferences is a huge monetary decision and is one that will bring many sleepless nights if that time comes because we are really set where we are.
