I guess this is the difference between conference-pimping fan bases of the SEC and Clemson fans.
After Tennessee beat our Tigers, my main college baseball rooting interest was making sure the Vols didn't win. Didn't want them to make it Omaha and when they did, wanted them sent home ASAP.
Yet Mr. Vol fan is cheering on an LSU team that sent his Tennessee team home. It just means more incestuous rooting interests.

Many people here openly and quite proudly root against the SEC but seem not like when people root for the SEC. As if conference only matters if you root against it.

We root against the SEC in reaction to the conference cheering of the SEC fans and pimping of the SEC by ESecPN. Hope that helps explain for you.

I get that. But the fact that you root against the SEC, in reaction to people rooting for the SEC, is a pretty strong statement that conferences and conference pride matters. Otherwise, you'd just ignore it.

We are joining your conference, but I didn’t vote for it. If one Texas fan ever chants SEC! Over and over again I’m throwing what I have in my hand at them. That’s exactly what I hate personally and of course the Aggies who still have ‘saw em off’ stickers on their pickups even though we quit playing them in 2012, the obsession continues. They can’t deal with the fact that we had a horrible team and QB and we came back to beat them with the NFL GOAT kicker in Jason Tucker. They also hate that we’re coming to the SEC and that the SEC used them to open more recruiting into Texas. Aggies won’t admit that, but the SEC also preferred Texas all along because we are the Flagship of this state.
I don’t want to have to look at ugly Aggie dudes bending over with their hands on their knees with another guy right behind them while calling everyone else a queer. Such hypocrisy blows my mind and there’s plenty of gay Aggies. But, no, they all say every gay in the world lives in Austin, Texas. Truth be known, there’s quite a few more gays in Houston and Dallas. Also, pssst hey fellas, Provincetown and Key West, throw in Manhattan, San Fran and Asheville and there’s plenty of those limp wrists to go around
I wouldn’t mind playing the rest of the SEC, but not Aggie and Arkansas. Last time I was in the piggie state, home Of the Clinton crime family, I actually saw upside down Longhorn stickers on beat up pickups with 4 foot tall men driving them. Thanks, hillbilly, for making us 2 cents richer.
You Bulldogs hate Georgia Tech, but that’s because they are far superior to you academically and your hatred pales in comparison to the obsession that OU, Arky and Aggie have for us. Aggie or OU will be playing Joe Blow and be doing the upside down Hook em sign. Wow, just wow

Ah yes... Football. The sport the Vols have contributed nothing to the SEC in since 25 years ago.

I feel your pain, but Tennessee is kind of back in football and you do remember the bowl game, right?
