I seen them a few years ago... they were awesome. But you could tell they are getting old.

my god I was 16 at that show, the guitar player in my dad's band was a beat writer at the Philadelphia inquirer and took me to that one. I was not that into thrash until then, but looking back those guys stood the test of time. The ###### guitar solos ruined the genre.

I'm not rating them, but:
Tool - always a great show
Between the Buried and Me - this show was pretty awesome. Closed with "White Walls" and then "Swim to the Moon" for an encore.
Opeth/Katatonia - sadly enough this was right as Opeth began transitioning to whatever the #### they play now.
Dog Fashion Disco/Psychostick - Psychostick was freakin' hilarious and unexpected. They almost stole the show. Almost.
A Perfect Circle - not metal but kinda relevant.

Best metal band I've ever seen? Probably Alice in Chains (with Layne Staley on the Dirt tour). Also saw Ice-T with Body Count (Cop Killer tour), Anthrax, and GWAR around the same timeframe---early/mid 90's.
Best metal band I've seen in the past 10 years or so? Probably Red Fang (Murder the Mountain tour). I'd throw in a couple of Mastodon shows, around or before Crack the Skye. I saw Ghost open for them, which was good even in broad daylight. In October I'll see Russian Circles with Helms Alee... Super excited about both those bands.

NIN was pretty awesome Hatebreed.
In my high school days, I was a punk rocker. Went to the warped tour every summer and saw quite a variety of hardcore bands then.
Suicide Machines aren't hard core, but they have a tune called DDT and they made a circle pit that went in front of both stages. That was awesome.
NOFX puts on one helluva drunken mess of a show, but to me embody punk rock because of it.

Loudest - Motorhead (RIP Lemmy)

Slickest (best production) - Judas Priest. They had the stage show down pat.
Most Fun - Metallica back in the 80's. Before they had the big dopey catalog of "Sandman", "Nothing Else Matters" and such. This was almost exclusively "Kill 'em All" and "Master of Puppets". Seen them a bunch since and none ever measured up.
this one seems fitting; Big 4 doing a Motorhead song.... https://youtu.be/0U4r2_s59qk
