ACC gets first bowl win
Dec 27, 2013, 10:26 AM

Pitt took care of bis last night in out first bowl game. We have 2 more winnable games today w Maryland and Syracuse. Obviously we need FSU and Clemson to win, but it really helps the conference perspective as a whole if the 6-6 teams get wins. BC, VaTech , and GA Tech, Duke, all have tough games. How many wins do y'all think the ACC can finish the bowl season with?

Other than that I really hope FSU, BC, VT, GT and Duke all lose.
Well...actually Duke winning would be fun, but I still hope every ACC team loses.

I spend all year hating those teams, I'm not going to start rooting for them now.
Oh and by the way...me rooting for an ACC team to lose does not actually make them lose, and it does not make the ACC weak. (not sarcasm)

it all differently. I root for ACC teams so my team can benefit from their success. Especially starting next year strength of schedule becomes a bigger deal. I'm just rooting for the best possible outcome for my Tigers, that's all.

Do you not realize how much money and positive attention an FSU win will bring our conference? Are you an SEC homer or something? You do realize that if Allbarn wins the media has a field day with the SEC love fest especially since it is the last BCS title game ever. Sorry, we can not let the SEC end the BCS era on a positive note.

winning except Duke. I would love for them to beat A&M but I don't see it.
Also depends on which VT team shows up for their bowl game, they've been so bipolar this year it's hard to say with them

GT has the best shot of the remaining non-BCS games for ACC
Dec 27, 2013, 10:39 AM

I don't think Ole Miss will be able to put a damper on GT style offense. The only question is whether GT defense and especially the secondary can step it up against a decent passing offense.
I don't care about MD. Louisville/Miami feels like an ACC matchup to me.
UNC should be able to prove they fixed a few things by beating Cincy. But it's a longer shot than GT beating Miss to me.
VT can compete with UCLA because they have such a powerful run defense. But with Logan Thomas on board I don't think they'll be able to cover UCLA scoring.
Duke looked good defensively for a quarter against FSU. But I have no reason to believe they can play that well for an entire game. TAMU and Manziel will score and then score some more and then...
Cuse and Minn? No idea. Oddsmakers aren't so excited either. No slip since the open. Solid odds at 4.5. We'll know soon....

The ACC generally gets favorable bowl matchups in terms of better teams from the conference playing worse teams from the other conferences. At least that's how it seems when we finish about .500 anyway.
Pull against 'em all. The #3 ACC team beating the #6 SEC team in a bowl game doesn't really do a whole lot to prove that the ACC is good.

Yes the ACC does get favorable matchups, which is why when they lose, #3 ACC vs #6 SEC it looks even worse. I don't like any other ACC teams but the reality is Clemson is judged by our weak conference. It is better for us if the other ACC teams win. It's not like it will help Pitts recruiting that they beat bowling green, might help FSU to beat AU, but they are already in top 5 recruiting every year now.

Bowl stock will rise this season, the sec's will take another hit and fall some more this season.
Wake had 2 acc wins and took 4-4 sec vandy on the road and had them beat if it wasn't for a 4th down miracle.
You're going to sleep on Duke vs ATM? I'll tell you this much, duke's d is better than ATM. Should be a great game.
The acc is picked to lose almost all their bowls, except FSU, are we favored?
I'm disappointed in the number of favorable match ups given to the sec. They are favored in all but 2 games, one is auburn the other is unranked(?) Wisconsin over scar.

Favorable Bowl Matchups?
Dec 27, 2013, 2:21 PM
|
|
You mean like ACC #10 or whatever vs the MAC #1?
If we are going to play the nameless faceless conference game then that is a terribly lopsided match-up. If the SEC conference is NFLjr like some people call it then why wouldn't their 5th best team be favored to beat the 3rd best team of "the worst conference ever"
