ACC games overseas

One of Dabo's commercials for Blue Ridge security talks about ACC games being overseas next season he hopes we get to go.
Is that just a commercial ploy or is that something that might actually happen?

I know Cal and Hawaii are playing Sydney Australia next year. ND has played in Ireland. But I have not heard about anything else. I would be surprised if Clemson ever played overseas again

There's a WCCP commerical

where Dabo says "There's talk of more ACC games going overseas next season. If we go, and I hope we do, there will be no such thing as home field advantage"

When did WCCP stop being a never ending commercial, with a few comments every few minutes?

We played Wake Forest in Japan in 1982 and Duke in Japan in 1991 I think.

This is the same league that now requires some of its members school to play on Friday nights when high school recruits are unable to attend the games. Oh well...as long as it doesn't interfere with basketball, most people probably won't even notice (rolling eyes).

Clemson Wins Title UPI Published: November 29, 1982
TOKYO, Nov. 28— Homer Jordan thrilled a crowd of 80,000 with his passing and running today and led Clemson to a 21-17 victory over Wake Forest in the Mirage Bowl for the Atlantic Coast Conference championship.
Clemson, the defending national champion, finished its season with a 9-1-1 overall record and 6-0 in the A.C.C. Jordan, who was named as Clemson's most valuable offensive player in the game, set up a 1-yard touchdown run by Kevin Mack with his running and connected with K.D. Dunn on a 22-yard touchdown pass.
Jordan led Clemson to a 19-10 lead late in the fourth quarter, but Gary Schofield, the Wake Forest quarterback, connected with the wide receiver Tim Ryan on a 65-yard pass play in the closing minutes to cut the Deacons' deficit to 2 points.
Wake Forest stopped Clemson on its 5-yard line on the ensuing kickoff return, but after a Clemson punt, Wake Forest gave up a safety with less than two minutes left when Schofield was sacked in the end zone.
Clemson scored first on Mack's 1-yard run but missed the extra point. Wake Forest took the lead at 7-6 after a 2-yard pass from Schofield to the fullback Dan Dougherty and a successful extra point.
But a 30-yard field goal by Bob Paulling and a pass-run engineered by Jordan put Clemson ahead to stay, 16-7, late in the first quarter. Clemson's second touchdown came when Jordan hit the tight end Dunnwith a short pass on the Wake Forest 22 and Dunn ran for a touchdown. Coach Al Groh of Wake Forest attributed the loss in part to five fumbles, two late in the fourth quarter. Clemson lost only two fumbles.
A spokesman for the bowl's sponsor, Mitsubishi Motors, said the 1983 game would be between Houston and Southern Methodist on Nov. 27 at Japan National Stadium.

and all of the students were home for Thanksgiving break. In addition, Japan is something like 14 hours ahead of the US so a bunch of my buddies and I got together and listened to Jim Phillips call the game on the radio. I recall the reception was so bad you could hardly follow the game.
Clemson played in Japan again in 1991 beating Duke 33 - 21.

Well, if this idea come to fruition they need to send WF and Syracuse or some insignificant matchup th is likely to draw a bigger crowd in Russia or Vietnam than it would at either of their home games! Why mess anymore with our conference schedule? The Friday night games, now possible foreign games what's next "The ACC ON TUESDAY NIGHTS ON FOX SPORTS 1? So, does idiot Swofford understand he is cheapening our brand?
