A&M IPTAY Tickets
Jun 27, 2018, 1:20 PM
|
|
Does anyone care that you have to have 100 IPTAY points just to sniff two tickets to College Station? Save the "just buy them on Stubhub" comments, because that is what I'll be forced to do. The point is why pay money to IPTAY for tickets if those of us with 20 years of giving to IPTAY under our belts are not getting tickets? I got two tickets to the National Championship game in 2016 with less than 100 IPTAY points. Limits on tickets to away teams is likely the culprit so I hope that we return the favor to our Texas friends in 2019. Just like everything else, give them more money.

Not sure how your Iptay system works, but we typically give out 3800 lower deck seats with the visiting school band and 2200 to 3700 upper deck seats depending on how many the visiting school requested.
I hope that helps clarify (somewhat) the allotment handed out.

You don't pay iptay. .they don't work for you.
You donate money to iptay because you want to see clemson athletics succeed.
As a thank you, iptay will give you the opportunity to purchase tickets to various athletic events. Naturally they would like to provide a bigger thank you to those who have been more generous in their donations.
Each event has its own demand/sup ply issues so iptay has to constantly alter the reward program.

Isn't it just a combination of years giving and amount given

I'm personally pretty glad it's not just based on years donating. I've been too poor to donate to Iptay since I graduated a decade ago but my income will nonuple in 2020 and I hope to get lower deck seats as I plan to donate handsomely.

I must say i am a little surprised at the limits however. I doubt the Clemson allotment is that small.. given that their stadium fits 100k plus.

Supply.....and demand

I would guess that iptay thinks they will receive enough requests from donors with 100 points or more to fill their alloment for tam tickets .
They may guess wrong and lower the requirement if they don't get enough requests.

I BEEN AN IPTAY MEMBER SINCE 1980 AND I DIDNT GET TICKETS. NEVER HAVE BEEN A BIG GIVER TO IPTAY. JUST ENOUGH TO KEEP MY TICKETS. I PREFER TO SPEND MY MONEY ON GOING TO GAMES. AND I HAVENT MISSED VERY MANY, HOME OR AWAY SINCE 1980. ### N SHAME THAT THE ACTUAL "FANS" OF THE TIGERS SEEM TO ALWAYS BE LEFT OUT.

Has IPTAY provided a hard limit re: A&M tickets?
My wife and I are going with a long time IPTAY member (I've contacted him, but haven't heard back yet) and I know he requested 4 tickets for the game. Curious as to whether he'll get all 4 tickets or not.

TAM gave Clemson 5000 tickets, way below the norm for most visiting teams. Clemson will repay the favor next season. Below is part of the letter Clemson sent yesterday to the season ticket holders that ordered TAM tics.
Texas A&M Priority Ticket Limits:
650+ priority points – no more than 4 tickets
100-649 priority points – no more than 2 tickets
1-99 priority points – will not be receiving any tickets

We gave yall 6000 per a ticket office person. That is the requested allotment from Clemson.
We’ve set aside 7500 for y’all so if you blow through those 6K you will get another 1500 if Clemson so chooses.
I’m actually surprised by the allotment. I felt like Clemson and A&M both had 8-10k in the 04-05 Series at each game. Could have been a lot of secondary action in those games.
We set aside 7500 for the likes of Bama and LSU and UT and Auburn. 6K for the lower traveling fan bases in the SEC.

Because IPTAY relies on the $ donated

Not the years donated. Does it suck for older longtime fans/alums that might not be able to afford to give much more than they do? Sure. But if they don't have that model then their donations suffer which is a large part of where the funding for these impressive facility upgrades have come from.

Well that sucks. 4 of us were planning on going. My buddy is only guaranteed 2 tickets.
Was supposed to be him (a Clemson grad), his brother-in-law (a Clemson grad), me (a Clemson grad) and my wife (an A&M grad).
Wife and I already have plane tickets, hotel and rental car taken care of. My buddy has a hotel but no plane tickets as of yet.
Looks like two of us are gonna have to look on the secondary market unless my wife can score two tickets through Texas A&M.

It’s pretty basic.
Hopefully we don’t suck again and every Iptay member gets tickets. With a smaller fan base than many large schools we compete with it’s the only way, reward $ not loyalty.

You know, I'm finally bored enough tonight to comment on this tired old topic. I appreciate life long fans and IPTAY members and believe there is something to consistency and so does IPTAY. That is why they give points for every year of donating. That said, businesses, of which IPTAY is one, are in the game of making money. If you don't like your seat allocation then give more. If you can't, then that's democracy. Go to home games only, buy from StubHub, watch at home. To be honest, I'd rather someone who gives more than me, get my seats if we keep winning. The reason we are winning is because we are lucky enough to have finally landed a quality coach who understands donations are a big key to recruiting. I'll take a person donating one year at $10k over one who donates $400 for 20 years. To those who speak about being in the stands in the bad years, who cares, really. The stands were half filled with you there and looked as bad as empty. I know, I was there and have been going since the late 70s. It should also be noted that if you give, go to games and don't raise hell with as much noise as you can make when we are on defense.....I wish you would stay home! Good grief, get off the hip and donate and make nose on EVERY DEFENSIVE PLAY!!!!

OP,
I would not lose sleep over it. Even had you been able to get two tickets from IPTAY they would have been two of the worst seats you ever sat in at a ball game.
I attended the Clemson - A&M game in 2004 in College Station. That stadium was huge then. It is even bigger now. I sat with a buddy who had IPTAY seats. Our seats were lower deck way past the end zone. There was no field even in front of us. On top of that it was hot as hades. It made a September game at Clemson feel like a winter day.
If you really want to go then skip stubhub and shop eBay or buy the tickets outside the stadium. The best bet in my opinion is to stay home and watch the game from the comfort of your living room and save the money for the playoffs.
