8u softball girls get a triple play

There is one thing 8u softball girls do in a game on defense. They get the ball and call time.
It makes fielding really short. They basically try to get the out at first.. if they do, they call time, if they dont, they call time.
What you are about to see is the 8u Greenville Little League all stars.... not call time.
It was the championship game... they were on defense... the run that would eliminate them was on third... another runner on 1b, there was no outs.
Three girls got an out.. and not one of them called time.
If this wasnt on video, Im not sure I would believe it myself... and I saw it live.
6-3-5 triple play.
They turned this play and went on to win state.
My daughter is playing 1B (shameless plug) <img border="> Enjoy

from that viewpoint and through the net. I'm assuming from your description that the shortstop caught the line drive/popup and threw the girl out that was on 1st before she could get back and the girl that ran home from 3rd was also thrown out before she could get back.

Congrats to your daughter and the team for winning state.

Surprised a LL tournament at any level allows calling time.

Could you describe what happened?

I assume it was a caught ball and then 2 additional outs because the runners were off the bases?

Weird things happen in youth sports, but it's pretty sad at 8U that kids on an all-star team don't know the rules or can't listen to the coaches.

So yes... if a coach is on the field for coaches pitch, time has to be called to separate time of play from when the coach gets the ball back.
It can be annoying as it can happen when runners are trying to get to the next base.
There is a line between the base path to determine which base they go to when this happens.
But yes.
A line drive over the head of the SS that she made a great catch one.
Runners on 1b and 3b both took off on contact, thinking it was uncatchable.
SS threw to 1b, 1b threw to 3b. 6-3-5.

This field had a net instead of a fence so it was harder to get the camera to look through the gaps to get a clean shot... we are just glad to have any record of this at all :)
