From front window of my little 17’ GMC Camper Van (you know, the one with all the Clemson & travel window decal stickers) as I pulled into the boat ramp parking lot facing Beaufort SC and showing it’s bridge.
One of the houses in background, maybe one hidden in trees, is one used in the iconic movie The Big Chill.
Also, part of the Forrest Gump movie was filmed lhere too as well as others.
Cheers from vacation land!

I attended BIFF last night here, which is the Beaufort International Film Festival.
Oh, What a relief to feel 80 degree weather and a bit of Spring in the air..yet we’ve got windy March coming up.

That first view is a mile from my house. Boat ramp on Factory Creek. The view of your feet in the next picture is on Bay looking back at my dock off Meridian. The views here are everywhere, and never get old. Enjoy!

I was hoping that was your motorcycle in the pic. Vans are cool, but cruising around the beach on a bike would be much cooler. But your still cool LBB.

But it’s 100 miles round trip from SAV Ga to Beaufort SC while it’s about 500 miles from SAV to Clemson & back for a game at 70-80 mph (so not to be run over) thus getting 9mpg..
so, I made a decision to stay close to home now and watch Tigers play on TV in the early Fall.
Besides, if gas gets to $5 a gallon & I give out, then I could walk back home!

Lots of good memories of going to the Beaufort Water Festival from Charleston with my granddaddy on the sailboat that he built. Thanks for sharing the pics!

They could use that weather in Major League Fishing.
Has to postpone the round today (Quitman, just east of Dallas, TX) today. 25 degrees and icy rain.
Tomorrow they will be fishing in the 35-45 degree range. Yesterday was fun to watch. They fished in freezing rain. Ice on the decks of the boat, reels were freezing, had to keep dipping rods into the water to get the ice off.

I'm in Beaufort for a few days too. Drove over to Charleston yesterday to meet a new baby niece. Weather is fabulous. Charleston traffic is close to impossible. We love Beaufort but plan to sell our house here later this year. Gonna miss it.

Certainly jealous...one of my favorite places to visit (used to vacation a good bit on Harbor Island). Great place that just a hop from Savannah or Charleston. And fishing the Broad River pier during the Cobia run is a ton of fun (and good eating).

Wooden boat called a Hilliard. I had one for 13 years, and they are built so well with hardwood, that they, if taken care of, are worth more when older, like antiques. I purchased mine in St. Lucia for 10,000, sailed it for 13 years, most of them with Marine Science passengers, and then sold it for 16,000. Mine had a British built Perkins 4 cylinder diesel which, like the boat, lasts forever if taken care of...Most look down on wooden boats, and for a good reason if mostly plywood, some covered with fiberglass rot easily. Hardwoods like Oak, African Mahogany, Teak are too expensive any more. The oldest working Wooden Ship is the famous U.S.S. Constitution, over 300 years old, constructed largely of Live Oak from here and Georgia coast. There was a boat building port not far from Georgetown, that lasted as long as the Live Oak was available, sadly, that tree started to become scarce.
