Question - if portal existed when DW, TL, TE played - would they have stolen?

I hope not. I would probably bet against it as we were dominant, but in today’s world of tampering and money grabbing - who knows?
How many of our greats before them would have stayed? Priester, Gallman, Fuller, Dwight Clark, Fridge, etc etc.
It’s sad really. No loyalty.
People like Dillion Gabriel make me sick. Many others as well. The ones buried on a depth chart and move to lower level schools like Chace Brice - I understand. But not starters at great programs.

It did exist. Any player could leave any school at anytime. The difference, unlike today, is there were rules and consequences.

I agree. It's just not the same sport anymore. Used to be a team of guys. Now it's more like a collection of independent contractors.

Apparently Dillion Gabriel transferring has more to do with other factors and not just NIL.

As for our prior star players, it's possible.

- ETN I could see transferring to maximize opportunities due to RB shelf life in the NFL so couldn't blame him for that.

- DW4 would be a possibility too just because I'm sure he'd want to take care of his family sooner than the NFL.

- Trevor would probably be one that wouldn't be financially motivated due to his family stability appearing to be pretty good.

This is more NIL related, but we would have never been able to afford TL in the first place.

Call me crazy, but I think we still would've pulled him. Personally, I just look at his family and think it was stable enough to not warrant going to the highest bidder.

Of course, never can say never cuz we simply won't ever know if NIL would've been a huge thing for TL or not.

However, I'm thinking that bagmen probably still approached TL to gauge how much it could take for him to commit to other schools and Clemson still came out on top (one way or another).

I don't understand why so many have such negative things to say about the guys that are looking for a pay day. It's no different than anybody else looking to improve their situation by taking a job at a different company for more pay, better benefits or a change in their role/position.

Can somebody explain it to me without just saying I'm dumb? I seriously don't understand it.

I hate that the guys that left Clemson didn't produce and were getting passed on the depth chart. But if their goal is to improve their situation or provide for their families (Mukuba), why is that so "wrong"? I know upperclassmen getting passed on the depth chart at Clemson is rare but both of those guys were looking at reduced snaps next season. Couple that with Mukuba jumping the gun on making an NFL decision, they needed a different opportunity.

You are dumb. lol. Just kidding.

It is all about commitment, loyalty, and seeing the big picture.
Think about being married and you being happy with your life. If you go out and meet a woman who you don’t know, and her family has money your current wife does not - do you divorce your current wife and hope that the new woman is better?
Today’s world and young people have been taught that everything is disposable, easy, and without work ethic. A large number of kids entering the portal - will be left out in the cold. They had a scholarship and when nobody picks them up - now they don’t. They don’t finish school due to finances. Or they are now taking out loans.
I separate the ones passed on depth chart with ones that simply jump. Commitment should mean something. Team should mean something.
What will Missouri have that makes a player move from Clemson? Lower level program, not as good facilities, defense not on the same level, culture not there.
You and I will disagree. It’s all good. But it has ruined college football. IMO anyway.

Now, go tell your wife if someone new comes along - she could be toast. See how that works out for you. lol.

On the other side of that, if my wife starts spending more time with 2 other guys than she spends with me, you better believe I'm hitting the bricks. Keep in mind, perspective matters.

You and I are going to disagree. That's OK.

We don't know the details behind these decisions. I forget who it was the other day that didn't realize Mukuba has a kid. Once they found out about the kid, their take on his transfer took a 180. Most of these decisions aren't as superficial as a lot of people think.

And was being benched for a sophomore. Should he have stayed his last year for that?
