This guys definitely good but along with Buddy Emmons,Rusty Young and JD Maness are in that conversation. Dan Dougmore and Hank Divito and David Lindley (lap steel) are up there on my list too!

Ralph Mooney (Waylon's ), Cindy Cashdollar, and Paul Franklin all are pretty good too. This is one instrument I always wish I had tried. I've played guitar and. drums. Steel guitar played well is amazing

Of course that is a Dobro (Hawaiian Guitar) but played much like a steel guitar (less strings). Here is the best ever on the Dobro ...... Jerry Douglas. The beauty of both steel guitars and dobro is not as much as their lead or solo work as their back-up to other instruments.

I saw Rob Ickes in May and he is a real talent! He won the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Dobro Player of the Year award for a record-setting fifteenth time in 2013; IBMA notes that he is the most awarded instrumentalist in the history of the IBMA awards.
Currently playing as a duo with Trey Hensley. They opened for Rodney Crowell on tour this summer!
