What is it with the golfers going so low. Another guy shot 11 under 60 today. We had a 57 on the Korn Ferry tour earlier this week.

Course turf management gets better and better, so greens roll truer than ever.

Guys are fitter than ever, stronger than ever, and more swing tech oriented than ever. They have more tools at their disposal to diagnose and elminate faults, in addition to just the eyes of their coaches. And of course, the balls go farther, and the clubs are better than ever before as well. It all adds up to two things: Lower scores, and the obsoleting of some great old courses because they are too SHORT now.

For some reason, some golf purists do not want to see people shooting 10 under par on their course. I say, if they are good enough to post that number, then Hail to them. It ain't going to make it any easier for Joe Public to go out to that same course and break par. The level these Pros play at is completely alien to you and me. I remember a local kid who had a lot of talent tell me one time, after several failed attempts at making it out to the Tour:

"You better be able to drive it well over 300 yards. You better be able to beat anybody YOU know, anybody THEY know, and anybody THEY know. And even then, you need sponsorship to get started."

Easy course. (For those guys.) Took -6 to just make the cut.

Think of it like the old Bob Hope Pro-Am at Palm Springs.
