Poddle Pointer!?! Dog rec

I know this is a football board. But it’s also the most read. Looking to get a family / outdoor dog and my son loves this one (and me too). That said, can’t find a breeder within hours and don’t know a soul with one to get feedback.
Anyone have any experience owning or being around one. Would welcome any thoughts, feedback, breeder info etc.
We have enough land to let it run and play but also want a dog that can spend time with the family as well.

Being in SC, look into a Boykin Spaniel. Ours is the best family dog we've ever had.

I should of added, I knew a guy with one out here that he hunted Chukar with. I think he got it from Idaho.
To be honest, I thought the dog was kind of high strung and "aloof". But like people every dog is different. Honestly, our Boykin in a MUCH better family dog than his.

Poodle is a great canvas upon which to paint other breeds

I know poodle pointer is one of the older poodle mixes before it became somewhat of a fad but the poodle personality still shows through.
Pointers are relatively calm, so I'm sure that influence is good at calming the poodle energy.
I have a sheepadoodle. Half Old English Sheepdog. Strong work drive, athletic, independent, affectionate.
All the 'doodles' I've met are wonderful, energetic dogs. It's hard to go wrong.

Dead on CST! I have a 10yo Schnoddle that I thought couldn't be topped. About a year ago the wife got a Poo-Ton that might give him a run.

I have researched the breed a lot. Only a handful of breeders in the country. Think there is one in Georgia but I do know he is frowned upon by the other breeders in the country. I can’t remember why. They are a great all around hunting breed. Not sure about their family aspects.
If your looking for an upland type dog,I would look into Braque Francis. Which is a French pointer. The look like a gsp but make a better family dog than a gsp in my opinion.

I researched the breed because I was looking for a new hunting dog but ended up getting the wife a Great Dane instead. I do know one friend who has one and from what I can tell everything that I have learned about them is true.

Big, affectionate clowns that also make great watch dogs.

I’ve got a wonderful dog….he’s a cross between a Pit Bull and a Poodle….he’s not much of a “guard dog” but he is a vicious gossip!!!

I am always preferred coonhounds.
Nice and easy/restful indoors, lots of energy/endurance outside. "Failed" hunting dogs tend not to separate from the group so they stay near the fam and those make good family dogs. Not aggressive but still very weary to strangers etc. For training, you set the behavior and it "sticks" like ritual for them.
