Morris says Stoudt has what it takes to beat South Carolina
Clemson and South Carolina renew acquaintances next Saturday at noon in Death Valley, and the biggest question surrounding Clemson’s offense centers on whether freshman quarterback Deshaun Watson will be able to play. If Watson isn't available, offensive coordinator Chad Morris thinks that senior Cole Stoudt has what it takes to lead Clemson to the win over the Gamecocks. Full Story » |

Just look before you throw - no more wild tosses into double(or triple) coverage. Even Mike Williams can't out jump 2 or 3 guys and come down with the ball..

WOW!! WITH 1.3 MILLION YOU WOULD THINK COACH M. COULD AFFORD NEW GLASSES. I UNDERSTAND YOU WANT TO PUMP UP YOUR QB BUT DONT BLOW THAT SMOKE UP OUR @$$ AND EXPECT US TO BUY IT. HAPPY TO WIN YESTERDAY BUT 28 PTS AGAINST GA.ST. YOU CAN SEE THAT HE DOESNT HAVE THE ABILITY TO LOOK AT DIFFERENT RECEIVERS, HE HAS HIS MIND MADE UP WHERE THE BALL IS GOING BEFORE THE BALL IS SNAPPED. IF I CAN SEE IT YOU KNOW THE OTHER TEAMS SEES IT.

All of our QB problems are on Sweeny we wouldn't not be in this position if we were not playing for a saint. Kelly would still be here and the problems would be not as amplified as they are now.

Well some people surely have gotten pisssed over reading the absolute truth. Another truth is if it isn't fixed in a hurry, Saturday could become another sad late November Saturday. And as we all do know, that pain will last us for another year with constant reminders from the feathered pisss ants.

Not fooling anyone It's really getting old Just better to stay quiet or say "we hope to be at full strength by Saturday"
Cole plays:
= high likelihood Clemson gets crushed = Tigernet meltdown a week from today = hurts recruiting and national perception losing to Coots 6 yrs straight = Spurriers post game will be bitter = Dabo to UF rumors will re-surface as the fan base will be anti-Dabo who's very emotional = BV will be very frustrated w/ his D playing on a short field
Just do everything under the sun to get Watson ready to go Not trying to be Debbie Downer, just stating what everybody already knows

I totally agree with you. Most of the post here are all about how bad Stoudt is and that we are going to lose six in a row if he plays. I guess the whole stadium Saturday sees it differently, because the whole stadium was cheering for him when his named was called. There is one difference between the haters and coot supporters. At least the coot supporters are loyal to their team and don't take pot shots at any player or coach. I wish we can do the same. I wish the haters can travel to Columbia and support the other South Caroilna team because Clemson don't need them.

Be fair, Tajh Boyd did not light up the coots w/ great receivers and a better O-line. Hopefully Deshaun can play and play at a high level. If not, we line up and whip em w Cole. He can do it with a good team effort.

Please understand these are feel good coaches. Morris will be lucky to win with Watson. Spurrier has a field general mind. Our coaches favorite saying is this is what we do. Cole cannot run the base and simplified offense. We are doomed is Watson does not play. Maybe it will be a game time decision.

Why is it that Stoudt going to loose the game. Last time I checked it was called a football team. Their are eleven players on offense, defence and special teams. The fans can make a team play better. So if whoever don't think we can win with whoever is in the game, then they need to pull for Carolina, because we don't need them on our side. GO TIGERS !!

I say if our D pitches a shut out the first half and Cole has played poorly. Don't try and coach him up in the 20 to 30 minutes of half time break b/c his confidence won't come back out second half blazing. Just get somebody ready to take over for the second half.

I'm with you man. I've been a Dabo supporter from day one. I think he has done a fantastic job with our program. But I am freaking sick of hearing about how great Cole Stoudt is and we just can't see it. It's like when someone tells you they've fixed you up with somebody with a "great personality." You know no matter how much they sugar-coat it, the date is going to be bad. I am just so sick of it. Dabo pointed out the other day how Cole had "given four years to our program." Yes, but how many other guys who have given four years still sit on the bench? Why aren't Dabo and Morris singing their praises. Just STAHP!

necessarily because they believe it, but in hopes of getting Stoudt to believe it. What do you want them to do, tell you how sorry a QB is and that he shouldn't even have a scholly before he might have to go out and be the man at the biggest game of the year?

No, they need to stop talking. There is no "pumping up" Cole. They just make themselves look dumb when they continue to butter him up. The entire CFB nation knows Cole doesn't have what it takes to beat SC. If Cole doesn't know it, he is living in lalaland.

Cole plays and we lose:

This QB stuff is ingrained so far in the Old Ball Sack's head right now it's not even funny. I would not be surprised to see #4 in the shotgun Sat. at all. Think about it, if Cole was REALLY that valuable as the starter for next Sat., then why in the hell would they leave him in after he obviously hurt his shoulder. Morris and crew are not showing their cards right now, but they lay down the ace Sat.

Steve Spurrior wouldn't have to prepare for Stoudt. He can basically blitz on every down because Stoudt won't find the open receiver and if he blitzes right or left of center, chances are good that someone will come through the line untouched. Occasionally drop back into the zone on third down and Stoudt will through the ball into double coverage. Never fails. Stoudt will have his eyes looking straight down the field and will never pan the field.

wins the battle at the line of scrimmage, gets a push, opens holes for our RBs and gives Stoudt plenty of time to throw. If, however, we can't establish a solid running game, and if Stoudt does not have plenty of time to throw, then no, he does not have what it takes to beat SCAR.

I have seen time and time again where Stoudt had plenty of time to throw the ball and all he does is throw it into double or triple coverage. He can't play against the blitz or against the zone. He SUCKS

He is correct, the question is, does Morris have what it takes to beat SC? His play calling is simple, basic and very predictable. This year all I have seen are basic runs and predictable screen passes. I have not seen any reverses, any pump fake plays and not many throws to the TE's or backs coming out of the backfield. By now he should know what kind of QB Stoudt is, now make some plays that suits him and not a dual threat QB, which he is not. I think he has problems with making those types of calls.

How quickly you forget. Last year, in s.c. We were driving right down the field and got cute with a stupid pass thrown by our star wide receiver. We shouldn't have to be that cute to beat them. Our defense is stout----no pun intended

SC. I understand e is trying to keep Cole's confidence up, but enough is enough. We all see whhat he sees and we don't think so.
Heck, his offense and playcalling has been bailed out enough by the D this season, he should invite them all over for Thanksgiving dinner.

Well, Dabo is getting smart. Took the heat off himself and now has the Chad telling us that Cole has what it takes to beat USC. New twist to the same old cliche. Hopefully, they are continuing to spread the nonsense to catch Spurrier off guard. Unfortunately, I don't think he is that stupid. But I guess we will have to wait and PRAY Watson is cleared and starts. The offense responds and.plays to the beat of the real drummer when Watson is the QB. GO TIGERS !!

ROFLMFAO. There are real problems in this program. I know there are at USC also, but we all know Spurrier is a short timer there. Making excuses for poor play and acting like everything is fine is ridiculous. If Stoudt is our guy against Spurrier, even as bad as they are, and we win it won't be because we have a great program. Losing every year to Florida St is not acceptable. Losing annually to your in-state SEC rival is not acceptable. An offense that is suddenly and obviously bankrupt with the loss of a FRESHMAN is not acceptable, and it's not Clemson football either. If Dabo is our future, it's time to produce, and that means beating the Gamecocks and the Seminoles and the Yellow Jackets and the Bulldogs. Losing to 3 of those 4 is not success. Win or lose next Saturday, this season was a failure in many respects. I love my Tigers, but this is ridiculous. If we're happy with mediocrity, then fine...shut up with all the pre-season hype that never comes to fruition.

Stoudt is not good enough to beat USC unless our defense scores 5 TD's.
We better hope Watson plays.

If you look at stats for Carolina Defense then yes, Stoudt should have what it takes to beat Carolina, but if you look at reality then no Stoudt will bomb out & our whole season will fizzle out because the coaches wanna give a kid the benefit of the doubt & try to prove the fans wrong. We can just hope and pray the Superman DW is a go.
Dont get me wrong, i know everyone has a bad game once but not every game. The coaches need to start saying "ok, enough is enough. What do we need to do to beat Carolina?"

Now if we can just get Morris to get his confidence back and be creative and not predictable. How many times does 2nd down come up and everyone thinks, "oh, okay, here comes the screen pass." If I see it one more time I am going to scream!!!!

I can't stand the thought of losing 6 in a row to SC. The noon kick-off stinks. Just goes to show what the nation thinks about what this series has come to. It blows my mind that we are where we are right now at this junction in our season. We should have the players based on recent recruiting years. I can't stand that we don't have the coaching experience to get it out of our guys. To make the right calls to put our team in the best position to be successful. Losing to GA and FSU, I can get, but don't like it. Losing to Johnson and GT is completely unacceptable. Now here comes Spurrier with a 6 and 5 team and will deliver a win for the Chicks. Just knows how to put his team in a position to win. Watson can't do it all. If he plays or not, we still must out-coach the other staff. Morris doesn't have it. Dabo doesn't have it. Our best chance stands with the defense and Coach V. His experience to me is huge! He gets it! Please figure out a way to win this one! Sick of it!

What Morris is saying is that Watson is probably not going to be ready to go for Saturday and he thinks Cole is better than Nick.
Cole is not as good as I had hoped he would be but here are the upsides...
Cole had a fantastic completion percentage last year and had at least one game winning drive in relief of Tahj. He has the skills to play and hasn't lost a lot of (any?) games for us this year.
He isn't going to strap the team on his back and carry us but who ever thought he would?
Dye had the best game of any running back this year on Saturday.
We have the number one defense in the country.
We don't need Stoudt to be spectacular, we need him to play smart, complete enough passes to not allow them to put the entire defense in the box and have a good game from Dye and the OL.
We've managed to lose the last five by playing our worst game of the season against them. All we have to do is avoid that. They aren't world beaters this year and I think our defense out classes their offense more than our offense out stinks their defense.
Clemson recruits on family and I think this helps. Our brother is struggling, but as much as I regret what might have been, I'm proud of the way the team has fought through injuries. It's been ugly at times but we have 8 wins and a shot at two more.
It should be easy to recruit QBs... we are thin and Watson looks like he only had two more years.
Help is already on the way on OL and the future is bright at most spots. I expect the DL to take a step back from great to good but it's hard not to when you send two guys out in the first round.
Sorry for the novel but do try to embrace Cole for doing his best under trying circumstances. He hasn't been a champion but he has never given up on us, even when he had had every reason to. We want high character young men like him in the program because many of them will have the skills and will be champions but to get them we have to treat the ones that don't like family, too.
Love him up this Saturday. It costs us nothing and he needs and deserves it. How could we do any less ?

In 2011 he had 4 NFL receivers, an NFL running back, and an NFL tight end. Apparently that wasn't enough for him because they only scored 13 points against the Gamecocks that year.

Dabo show relinquish his grip on who the starting QB is
Nov 23, 2014, 7:41 PM
|
|
History Lesson: Location: Between the Hedges 2014 Score: UGA 14, Clemson 7 Ball on the 22 yard line 6 plays later Game is tide The player responsible resumes his backup duties on the bench never to return until the game is out of hand in the fourth quarter Coach blames the defense Defensive coordinator blames the defense Stoudt named the starter against SC St and FSU
Stoudt never lost the job after being named the starter over Kelly who had recovered from a leg injury. Must have been frustrating for Kelly. He blew his top. He did something we all wish at times we could do to some of the idiot bosses we once worked for. If only Kelly kept his mouth shut and realized that his boss was just being stupid and it would all work out later on the field. If only he had kept his cool, we would have had a better chance at beating GT but not UGA. No Dabo was still too blind to see the light back then and wouldn't have replace Stoudt with anyone and I'm not even sure Kelly would have come in and scored like Watson did.

basically, there gonna give the "senior" who worked hard this season his last chance. Simply because they don't wanna hurt his boo bear feelings. So soft. He is terrible. Woo hoo!!! We beat GA State!!!! By 28. Whatever, I can't wait till CS graduates and leaves Clemson for good. The only reason we will win Saturday if Cole starts is if the defense throws another shut out. Other wise it's gonna be a blow out. Because without Deshaun Watson, we cannot generate offense against teams like South Carolina.

the real Q is not whether CStoudt has this or that
Nov 23, 2014, 9:36 PM
|
|
it's whether the coaches can step up with a game plan and in-game management to match wits with the OBC, who has out-coached them year after year, whether with more or less talent. Last year I was apalled to watch us get away from fundamentals and resort to early "trickeration", which failed. In the process our players fed off of this desperation and their performance snowballed from there, all the way to Humphries on special teams. The coaches have yet to show me they can play-call at anywhere near the level of the OBC. Chad in particular looks like he's had a really rough year, and I've yet to see any proof that his recent success here was anything other than just having the most talented players on the field (with which he STILL couldn't beat USC).
Coaches, show me you're better this time.

We are fans! But that doesn't mean we don't know football.I have played and coached football. Cole doesn't have what it takes. He doesn't have a great or good ( for that matter) offensive line. He as a QB has to have it to be affective. He don't! And he isn't. Watson can be effective with what we have. Stout can't, hasn't and won't. Morris can tell us every week that the sky is green, but we have eye's. We know it's blue, sometimes gray , white or black with little lights, never green. Stop telling us it is. We know better. He couldn't score on GSU . And maybe it's the 14 national championships I've won on the Xbox talking, but I've seen enough of Cole to know he is ( another blow-out) waiting to happen.

For Gods sake I hope he is trying to throw USuCk a curve

Has the Chad lost his mind?! I know his play calling this year has been suspect, but Cole a winner vs USuCk?! Cole would have made a great div 2 or 3 qb! FBS, no way! We were lucky enough to win in spite of him for a few games in a row. If 18 starts Saturday, the cocktails won't come fast enough! I'm thankful for Cole being so dedicated and playing through pain. But, at the same time I think Schussler is a much better QB. He always seems to make the right read & take what the defense gives him. You can't go broke taking a profit. To quote the Chad! Dye really helps take pressure off him. Having Dye in there seems to lather up the oline too. I want my Christmas early! Deshaun Watson vs USuCk & a win! Sick of the chickens thinking they have arrived even though they still can't win a conference title! If Cole starts, it's going to be a sixth straight loss! Ugh! Again thanks Cole for what you've done. But, no thanks Saturday!
