It provides the opportunity for more fans to watch us than anywhere else. How is this unfair to both programs?

South Carolina would sell out its regional anyway. At least if Clemson had been sent to somewhere else close by, it would have been easier for Clemson fans to travel and be a more neutral environment for Clemson. Does the NCAA do this to any other team? Did they send Florida to Tallahassee? Would they send Georgia to Atlanta or vice versa? I guess part of the problem was that there wasn't another SEC site close by that was more suitable. The NCAA certainly wouldn't put Clemson in the Nashville regional, Clemson had too good a season to be sent to a National Seed's regional. Since Clemson can't play in a regional hosted by an ACC team, an SEC site was logical given the desire to keep teams close to home. That being said, the NCAA always seems to send one team way out of its region for the tournament, but I guess the teams that get sent "away" are the lower seeded ones that get the automatic bids. I'd still have preferred to be sent to Eugene or Louisville or anywhere besides Columbia.

and Clemson fans will be lucky to get tickets. The NCAA didn't send Florida to Tallahassee, so why send Clemson to Columbia? How is it fair to Clemson to make them play in their "rival's" regional? Do they do any other team this way? Why should Clemson be unfairly punished like this? Isn't part of the idea of the NCAA Tournament to give teams are fair a chance as possible to advance? I realize that host teams have an advantage and that's OK, but Clemson shouldn't be forced to play in Columbia, especially 2 years in a row.

because the NCAA didn't do anybody else this way. They didn't send Florida to Tallahassee, so why send Clemson to Columbia? Why make them face that environment in the NCAA Tournament? Clemson CAN win, but I think they'd have a better chance somewhere else.

Why is it unfair to play a rival?

Why is the environment a disadvantage? It's a disadvantage to play on the road anywhere, probably moreso when there is no familiarity with the field. Playing on Louisville's fake turf will likely be a huge advantage for Louisville.
I don't see why there would be a better chance anywhere else.

Why is it a penalty?

Seems like being a 2 seed at one of the weakest hosts is far from a penalty. A penalty would have to have been on the cusp of hosting and being sent to play at a national seed.
I think it's an advantage to be at a regional where were pretty much on par with the host and that we have familiarity with the field and the team. We also have a great opportunity to finally beat them in the post season.

I'm willing to listen to why you think it's a penalty.
Whats been said so far: 1) Florida wasn't sent to Tallahassee : This doesn't in any way explain it being a penalty to be sent to Columbia 2) USC would sell out anyway : This doesn't in any way explain it being a penalty to be sent to Columbia 3) They are our rival : Indeed they are, they are also one of the lowest 1 seeds
So, why is it a penalty to go?

SC and Clemson had very similar seasons, especially at the end. There isn't enough difference in the quality of the teams to make Clemson go to Columbia. It's not like SC has 50 wins and Clemson has 34. The two teams are pretty close to equal in terms of record, conference record and RPI.

The NCAA could have sent Clemson to a less hostile environment that would have given them a better chance for success. South Carolina and Clemson are very equal teams. What did SC do that made them deserve to host? I guess the 8,000 seats helps their case. They aren't THAT much better than Clemson that they should get that kind of advantage. Why is that so hard for some of you to understand?

This Tiger will be at our games in cootlumbia. And there wasn't even close to a HALF of a chance that I would get to see our Tigers play in Louisville. Believe what ever some of our fans may or may not want to think but, we have a very lot of Tiger fans right here in cootlumbia that will be at our games played here in cootlumbia. More than Ten times more than in Louisville. I can promise I will be AT ANY and ALL of our games played in cootlumbia. And I'll be there waiting way before our Tigers take the field. Every game!!!

Yet despite that the decision was to send Clemson for a return trip. Reports are that ESPN pushed for it and their vote was the only one that mattered.
To me it isn't about not wanting to play the coots but rather that the system has so unabashedly been slanted to the wishes of the media. At the end of the day the "selection committee" didn't make the selection - ESPN did.

Placing a team that just missed hosting at the site of a team who barely hosted makes sense from a seeding standpoint. It's regional and will be a higher profile regional for TV.
The only downside I see is there are a bunch of pansies that are scared of playing SCU.
