Playoff revenue distro to be decided this week?

There is an article on E$PN stating the CFP revenue disto should be decided this week. I cannot fathom why the Big12 and ACC would agree to the proposed revenue split between the conferences, but the article does not allude to any current disagreements other than from the group of 5 schools.
So the group of 5 schools have more guts than the ACC and Big12? They are just going to bend over and take it?
If this gets signed the ACC might as well give up on the FSU lawsuit. Talk about screaming proof the ACC puts them at a complete disadvantage.

The G5 schools have nothing to lose. They got nothing with the old set up and they nominally get more nothing in the expanded playoff as outlined in the ESPN bit:
“The question is if there is enough pushback to delay or derail the progress -- or if those leagues are simply in a tough spot and have to acquiesce or risk being excluded from the CFP. Sources have leaned toward the latter.”
ACC / Big12 have to bend the knee as well to the privately held CFP. ACC/Big12 have done the math and better for them to take a reduced payout than to be excluded entirely and forced to start an alternative playoff exhibition tournament

Oh I agree, the ACC, Big12, and even the group of 5 are taking it because they don’t want to be left out. They know it’s over. I’m not even sure why the ACC decided to fight FSU but put up no fight, at least in public, on the revenue distro. IMO they are killing themselves faster.

My personal opinion and one that I will qualify is not necessarily aligned with the most prudent course of action -- if ACC Commissioner signs on to the proposed revenue split he should resign immediately.

Agree, if the Big12 and ACC are serious about being competitive they should fight this. What are the BIG and SEC going to do, split now? Ok, we know that’s what they want to do anyway, so force their hand.

If they agree to this unequal distribution, heads need to roll. Grow a pair ACC!!!

If the ACC and Big 12 had any balls they would go ham on the Big 10 and SEC. Team up with Group of 5. Each of the 9 conference gets a single rep on playoff selection committee. No auto bids. Revenue sharing based strictly on participation and divided by percentage of tv viewership per game ( a championship that draws less than a semi does not automatically get more money ). If the SEC and B1G don’t like it, they are invited to exit the NCAA in all sports. Period.

Is it next week? I thought the article said this week. There is nothing in there about the Big12 pushing back but of course Sammich could not have all the inside info.

Since FSU and the ACC are tied up in a lawsuit, maybe Clemson should sue for equal pay for the ACC and Big12. If nothing else, I would like to hear the SEC and B1G justification why the shares should not be equal. Isn't this a borderline anti-trust suit?

The SEC and the Big draw the eyeballs, have the vast majority of the fans and tv advertising dollars. They put the butts in the seats and viewership is through the roof. Why should conferences that focus on basketball, have little stadiums and don't put forth the effort to maximize their football programs get the same money as those that do? That's like saying I'm an hourly production line worker and I want the same pay as my Fortune 500 company's president. The P2 just needs to break off and do their own thing in all sports. It's coming. May be a couple of years but it will be coming. I know......money is ruining everything. I can kind of see the points of both sides.

Clemson by itself is tied with the BIG for CFP Championships. Overall, the ACC has been in 4 total Championship games compared to the B1G's 3 total Championship games (Washington Oregon were PAC12 during their appearances). In my book, that's equal money. Based on this, the SEC should be balking at the B1G getting equal to them.

Agreed. Plus, the ACC is going to get plundered. This whole agreement may only be for 1-3 years anyway. Further, if the ACC, the Big 12, and G5 schools got together to form a playoff, the ACC and Big 12 would demand unequal shares. They wouldn’t want to share equally with the G5. It’s really just the circle of life.
