Looks like that will have to wait until next weekend! According to the forecast for Fri-Sun, it's gonna be a washout this weekend! Can't wait to get some good ol maters in the ground!

Time to get it done. These greenhouse maters ain’t worth a Brownell extension! Let’s set out to make this spring planting a National Championship time that takes us right into football season…. Go German Johnson’s and early broccoli!

It's supposed to get down in the 40s several days in a row,

I plant a large garden. I started about 100 tomato plants from seed in mid February. I wait each year until May to put them in the ground. Tomatoes do not like cold and that goes for air temp and ground temp. Clemson Extension recommends May 1st - June. They are hot weather plants that grow best when daytime temps are 70-80 degrees and nighttime temps are 60-70 degrees

I always try to get them in the ground early, but it doesn't

do much good. They grow slow, and I really think the overall health and yield is better when you wait til late April to plant when it's warm for real...

I agree. April 15 is usually my target date for most all of my summer veggies.

volunteer plants - if they came up where I had them last year, will they produce well enough for me to leave them instead of buying new plants?
