They're treating him like the Cubs treated Mark Prior

running that pitch count up to where he's gonna get where he can't pitch anymore. Pitching on 2 days rest is too aggressive. For him and his career its probably a good thing they didn't win.

He pitched well enough to win both games in the series. We just didn't have the hitting this time around.

shortsighted. I know its the playoffs but the fear is he won't be around long treating him like an ATM. Its a good thing for him that they aren't playing 2 more series'. Mark Prior would pitch 9 innings every time he played and he lasted about 2 years. Ruined his career. They all wanna pitch but the adults in the room have to be cool headed about their investment.

Strider had 4 days rest. About what every starting pitcher gets.

He threw 94 and 96 pitches in the two starts

I think pitching on short rest would be the issue more than the pitch count.

Looking at his season stats on baseball reference, it seems they consistently pulled him right around 100. 28 of his 32 starts were between 90 and 110 pitches. 3100 pitches total in 32 regular season starts. The other 4 starts he got roughed up and got an early hooks.

I don't think asking a would-be-ace starting pitcher to throw 100 pitches an outing is unreasonable. Mark Prior was closer to 115 pitches per game during that 2003 season that the Cubs really leaned on him, and that average went up to a whopping 130 during 7 starts in September and October.

Starting pitchers do get hurt a lot, especially hard-throwing young starters, but i don't know if throwing ~90 pitchers a game instead of 100 would really make a huge difference.

He was on normal 4 days rest and pitched well enough for a W***

That's a tough ball park to play in, and he held it together and was throwing gas...the Braves lost this series because their bats went ice cold

Acuna batted .143. He is a great player, but was not even in the line-up when the Braves won the series a few years ago. When you make it about one player, it is not going to end well.

Braves lost the series because the Phillies analytics discovered that speed pitching would hurt the effectiveness of the Braves hitting lineup as a whole! Very smart! That plus the fact that the Phillies batting lineup is peaking right now by design while the Braves lineup peaked too soon in the season! Go Phillies!!!! Strider's pitching was good enough to win - it's just that the Philly bats are hot!

Strider, yes

They choked like always. They lack heart or leadership, maybe both.
