ACC could have avoided all this with better leadership

ACC should have been looking at Texas, Oklahoma, socal and ucla long time ago. Everyone knew big12 and pac 12 had bad tv contracts and by ACC expanding into a new market they could have renegotiated with espn and we would have had the same tv contract as SEC. But the powers to be in ACC decided to react instead of being proactive. What a bunch of dumb fools.

Better contract negotiations on behalf of their schools is what they should have been doing. How did the ACC let their standing as being shoulder to shoulder with the Big10 and the SEC completely slip away. They seem to be on the horrible precipice of being an irrelevant conference. That is what all this is about. Irrelevant to getting athletes and then the money situation gets even worse.

You're not dealing wirh the reality of the situation. Texas, Oklahoma, USC, and UCLA were never going to come to the ACC. They made more money in their respective conferences, and had way more potential money to make ftom SEC/Big Ten membership.

The ACC was never going to get a TV deal on par with the SEC or Big Ten. Florida St. and Clemson are the only big draws in the league. The ACC schools are smaller, and have smaller fan bases. You aren't going to be able to do some Jedi Mind Trick on ESPN or Fox to get them to give a conference with snell schools and few brand names as much money as the bigger conferences.

Agree. They should have tried to poach

Texas, Oklahoma and one more like Oklahoma St, WV and heck even Baylor/TCU. I wouldn’t have minded Houston,Cin, or UCF if you got those first two. It seems like we always were an odd number becuase of ND. With that being said they missed a second opp. When Texas and Oklahoma left for the SEC they could have blown up the Big 12 and taken any 5 of Ok St, TCU, Baylor, WV, KState, and or one of Houston, SMU, UCF, Cin.

I never liked the idea of any west coast teams.

Exactly hiw did you plan to convince Oklahoma and Texas to cone to the ACC? What's in it for them? Don't say more money, because they had options for more money than the ACC would pay already out there.

A lot happened with the ACC that could have gone differently.

As much as I hate Swoffy and all things Tobacco Road, I credit the ACC for raiding the Big East when they did. Who knew Miami & VT would be so irrelevant in football? If we had those 2 programs strong and competitive, plus us and FSU, you've got an attractive league.

I'm glad Clemson is taking formal steps to get out.

Let's say you were the President of the University of Texas for example, and 4 years ago you got a call from the ACC and another from the SEC about interest in joining the conference. Who would you hang up on? Yep, me too.
