OU Williams in the portal thoughts

I am sure plenty of programs would love to have him, but I have to wonder what teammates want to play college ball with a starting player that seemingly has his finger in the wind? He says he still is giving OU a chance, but honestly if he decided to stay would his teammates have his back? I can see a good QB leaving at team because he will not have a chance to play due to a better QB in front of him, but a starter? It spells the beginning of a bad era for college football, IMO. One of the many reasons I don't follow pro football like I used to is that the players don't or cannot stay with their teams anymore. It might be good for the individual, but undermines what is and has always been a team sport.

I would play devils advocate to that by saying that all of these kids understand the landscape and might not have hard feelings if a hot commodity wants to try and take advantage of it. Now having one foot in, one foot out I could see rubbing some people the wrong way. But I kind of imagine that these kids all know its a business decision at this point. I just think its tough to blame the kids when all they are doing is using a poorly designed rule to their advantage.

You are probably right.
Sad to see college ball changing from amateur athletics into whatever mess it is becoming.
It proves the value of the free education is precisely NIL (pun intended) to the players these days.
What the NCAA is the stare down the NFL into creating a farm league for all these super athletes that apparently are not very concerned with actual education.

18-19 year olds do not have. What most of them are going to be is mad, that "I busted my butt to play on this team, and now some hotshot has come in and taken my spot. And, GOT PAID to do it!
All it takes is for one or more to have that attitude, and it will soon spread to a whole lot of others who are thinking they could soon be in the same sinking boat.

If SCAR had just been patient, they wouldn’t have had

... to settle for Rattler. ??????
Heck, for that matter Dabo just needs to snap him up to provide the QB depth the MOT say we desperately need.
He’s out there ...
Just get him! ???????

I think he is a program damager. Clemson is about team. For all the criticism Dabo gets thrown at him his strength is that he does not sanction prima donna's. Williams is a prima donna that no good team needs.

His teammates at OU loved him

From what I observed on the field and on the sideline, Caleb Williams is a natural born leader. He is the total opposite of Spencer Rattler.
He's the kind of guy other players gravitate towards.
I'm in the group that believes he's already decided on following Lincoln Riley to (the real) USC. He let OU have their shot and decided the new regime was not for him.
I understand the desire of people to hate on him but this is a move he has a right to make. For better or worse, CFB players now have complete control over their destiny. Some make bad decisions; some make great decisions.
In the future, when a coach leaves a school for greener pastures, we will expect players on that team to do the same.
