Can UGA really be this stupid?

7

Aug 8, 2023, 2:46 PM

There is another thread on this, but it was more of a light hearted thing. I wanted to make a more serious point, and I didn't want to highjack the other thread.

Article on the accident with UGA and the resultant lawsuit.

Here is a quote from the article.

*******
The suit claims the Georgia athletic association entrusted the rented SUV to LeCroy and was aware that she had at least two "super speeder" violations among four speeding tickets before the crash.

The athletic association said staff members were authorized to use rental vehicles for recruiting purposes only. "Under no circumstances were recruiting staff authorized to use rental cars to drive at excessive speeds while intoxicated," it said in a statement.
*******

1. UGA approved someone with "at least two 'super speeder' violations among four speeding tickets" drive recruits around town, even if they were limited to official functions of the university? And, I am supposed to believe that Kirby Smart, and the entire UGA administration, takes speeding tickets seriously?

2. Has there ever been a more stupid statement issued by an athletic administration than the one in the second paragraph? Sounds like something from the ###### of Dumb and Dumber.

It’s not politics. It’s just a private family matter, illustrating the grace and beauty of a father’s love.

Kirby has said he does not take speeding seriously. I kind of agree with him. When I was in L.E. our department wrote several Clemson players Tickets and I never heard about it in news. Arrested one for poss of Marijuana and it was never mentioned on Tigernet. My point is, I don't give a crap. I grew up street racing and retired from Law enforcement. College kids will not be perfect. So some Ga players go 75 on loop 10. Everyone does. ACC PD catch the super speeders where speed limit goes From 65 to 45 in about 300 feet. Big deal.

Is it OK to go 104 MPH? That's how fast the staffer was going when she crashed. She was drunk as well.

It’s not the one or two time occurrences. I don’t care to hear about it but it seems with this being repetitive they are not dealing with it in house and if they are it’s not enough to curb this issue.

Kirby should be dealing with this on the down low, and I’m not sure why the ones that have not caused a fatality are being made public.

Seems that UGA's stupidity was more about hiring this person to begin with.

"Victoria S. Bowles, who goes by Tory, filed a lawsuit against UGA in July-- in which the lawsuit partially blamed the accident on the university's athletic association."

They've really outdone themselves. UGA fans won't care.

Kinda like a politician getting caught on-the-take, thieving, lying, etc... and playing dumb when he's found out. His constituency never care.

Relative moralism in America dictates that as long as it's "your guy" everything is justifiable. When it's the "other team's guy" no punishment is too severe.

Ain't it great? Lol
