for winning a trophy. Now some of their present players demanding money they are giving the new portal guys. What a shame adult leadership has let this sport come to this. I continue to support Dabo’s idea of operating a football program. Bring in high school recruits and give them lasting value with using the portal for a few positions when it makes sense. The reason we are not getting the portal guys we are offering is that they are demanding too much money for their mercenary service.

It's hard to blame them for asking for "too much money" if someone else is willing to pay it.

in adult life…should you pay more for an external hire, or promote and pay less. And risk the promoted/non-promoted look elsewhere for more money. The successful companies handle this correctly, others dont.

True. I'd say Dabo and staff should be very, very selective in getting portal guys. And I think this has been the case. My guess is he will get a productive player soon because of great need at a particular position. Seems as though the $$$$$ issue is the major stumbling block.
