Been saying this since last year when he was at SMU. Garrett Riley needs to be a Clemson Tiger.

Do you think he would change the outcome

of a barely functioning QB? I mean DJ is having trouble with an offense he knows. You think he'd do better with brand new plays?

If hired at the end of season it wouldn’t matter. He’d have a QB to work with.

Dabo isn’t going to get a new offensive coordinator anytime soon.

2012 Orange Bowl. Remember losing

to WVU, 70-33? That was the end for Kevin Steele…*finally!* And frankly, I think last Saturday’s loss was even more embarrassing. I’m all for loyalty and I know Dabo is a stubborn so-and-so, but if “Best is the Standard,” he needs coordinators who will deliver on it.

This is such a clueless ignorant strawman argument.

There’s a word you might want to look up in the dictionary. Context!
Dabo was not secure in his job at that time. Clemson was not what Clemson is today as a program. Dabo was not high on his own success and had not become stubborn and arrogant like he is today!
Using this as an example is beyond stupid. It’s like comparing grapes to watermelons.
Furthermore, the game has radically changed the last three or four years. The transfer portal. NIL. And other changes.
We have a staff full of Clemson people. We have a staff full of “yes” men. Right now Clemson is controlled by loyalty and groupthink. History is wrought with disasters such as the challenger shuttle explosion and the failure of Jimmy Carter to get the hostages out of Iran. These are among many things that failed because of groupthink! There have been a few excellent books written about all of the epic failures that happened because of groupthink! Because of not having diversity of thought and opinion. Because of not bringing people in from the outside that are objective and have fresh ideas and viewpoints.

I was at WVU game. I was at ND game. From my standpoint ND was no where close to WVU.

Yes. The West Virginia game was a bigger beat down on the football field. That’s not what we’re talking about. The Notre dame game is worse for the program. Clemson was nowhere near where we are today when we played West Virginia. That’s the best lost that ever happened to Clemson. We went out and got Brett Venables. But Dabo has changed. He’s not gonna change anything because he thinks he’s right! The Notre Dame game not this out of the playoffs. The West Virginia game was a meaningless bowl game. God you people don’t understand context! You don’t understand a big picture. Do you think every game is just this independent thing that stands alone. It’s like people that think 63–17 was worse than 45–0. It’s not because of the 45–0 game they knew exactly what we were going to do. We were going to run it up the middle and run it up the middle and run it up the middle and they still couldn’t stop it! It was a more dominant performance!

I watched Coastal Carolina vs App State last week and I was impressed with the inventiveness and explosiveness of Willy Korn's offense. Maybe we could give him a look.

How's the QB?

No need to answer.
We will not be looking for a new OC, nor should we. We do, however, have to fix the biggest issue in the program.

I agree with you and loved your post yesterday about the QB position. Sorry if that wasn’t you, a lot of our names look the same. While I agree with you that QB is the main issue, I think a whole new system and offense needs to be brought in. We need to stop the wing and a prayer stuff and scheme talented guys open. The RPO stuff is a total failure with the current starter yet they continue to do it when running the fast hurry up is the only time I’ve seen him look good. He’s a rhythm passer. But the don’t do it. Need a new man who is in complete control of the offense.

I don’t think Sonny Dykes is gonna leave the HC job at a Power 5 school to come be Clemson’s OC. He is the reason their offense is what is. Riley might be good, but who knows
