NY Times breaks from tradition endorses...

Obama. Not really a shock though, they haven't endorsed a Republican since 1956 (since before Obama was born - in Kenya ;) ).

Falsehood flies, and truth comes limping after it, so that when men come to be undeceived, it is too late; the jest is over, and the tale hath had its effect: like a man, who hath thought of a good repartee when the discourse is changed, or the company parted; or like a physician, who hath found out an infallible medicine, after the patient is dead.
- Jonathan Swift

His situation in Massachusetts, along with the fact that the Republican Party began to adopt conservatism after the Democracts became more ideologically progressive in the late 60s, might explain why "Eisenhower Republicans" are scarce. In states where they might be elected, like Mass., Republicans only get into office as a corrective to liberal mis-rule. Then, when voters in those states decided they've had enough of the moderate Republicans, they just go ahead and elect the liberal Democract they wanted in the first place (Elizabeth "Warpath" Warren).
